So for the 2 weeks or more it is taking them to send me a card, they said it was sent on 16/09/08 and that I should expect it by 01/10/08, my existing card that still had six weeks to run before expiry is in limbo, meaning they actually expired it before the expiry date. Surely it would have been better to update the details when I had received and validated the new card. This can't be the way the system operates as it could leave people in dire straits.0 -
Use the same one as your bank card, there is no written law that says you must have a different password for all of your financial tools.surreysaver wrote: »It is another password to remember, and you will not have had a chance to think up a difficult to guess one, so you will likely use a password that you already use, or one that is easy to guess.
Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.0 -
Not sure, just think it is a good idea though, I dont have a problem with it, cant understand what the issue is here?so it was Gordon Brown's idea

They'd run out of card numbers
But, seriously, it does bring with it problems though. For example, many online retailers authorise a small transaction first of all just to check the card details are valid. They don't actually debit this from the card, they just get an authorisation code.
One company that does this is Amazon, but there's plenty of others. They'll get authorisation for anything between 1p and £1 when the order is placed (to confirm the card details are correct) but won't actually attempt to get the full amount authorised until they are about to send the item.
Now, because of the test transaction, the proper transaction for the full amount gets declined because it would take the amount of authorised transactions over the pre-agreed maximum.0 -
Wonderful, I've found the answer I was looking for. AMEX doesn't use this stupid unreliable system.
I have two credit and two bank cards, that would be 4 PIN and 4 different passwords. I also have a stupid pocket calculator thing I'm supposed to use? I can only use one credit card online now, as I can never get the other to work. The final straw was trying to pay money into EGG. My bank and the EGG Money card are linked, they know all my bank details. But when I tried to pay from my bank debit card to an EGG savings card, they wouldn't let me without setting up more passwords. Crazy!!0 -
y would anyone 'opt out'?!0

Why would you want to opt in...
If you bother to read the terms and conditions you will see that YOU the cardholder now become liable for fradulent use of your card if the VBV sustem is used.
That an improvement (for the banks)..!!0
