SE K850i vs. N95 8GB
It's a pretty simple dilemma, but one I just can't make a decision about. I've just come to the end of an eighteen month contract with Vodafone UK, and have been a customer there for around five or six years. I've decided that this time I needed a good phone; not just an acceptable one. One phone I'm interested in (the SE K850i) a couple of my friends own; one recommends it, and one warned me from it. The other phone I'm interested in is the N95 8GB.
I need someone to either; totally put me off the K850i, or dissuade me from heckling Vodafone for such an expensive bulky N series phone. One way or the other, PLEASE help me decide!
Thanks!
- Are there STILL software problems with the K850i? I've only ever owned phones that didn't have firmware updates, so I'm clueless
- Are the touch sensitive buttons on the K850i really that bad? For some they seem to work perfectly, for others a constant source of trouble
- What is the build quality like on both phones? It's pretty important to me.

N95 8Gb ALL the way, I had the K850i and it is basically crap, no where near as good as N95 8GB - which I am using now.
Definitely worth it!0 -
I have a K850i (which I received as a free upgrade) and, whilst I would not go so far as describing it as "crap", it does have problems - particularly with its camera in poor light.
Unless you really want all the features of a Nokia N95, my advice would be to go for an N82 (which does have a Xenon flash; one that works properly in poor light).
Vodafone don't offer it, though, so you'd need a workaround solution.
Orange sell it (locked). In black, too, which is nicer.
If you want to stay with Voda, you could probably get a very cheap, heavily discounted monthly rate SIM-only, to keep your existing account going.
Don't laugh at banana republics. :rotfl:
As a result of how you voted in the last three General Elections,
you'd now be better off living in one.

N95 8gb easy, or you could wait till October for the new N96 which is sweet.0

or SE G900 whens that out ???0

Certainly go for the Nokia. I have a K850i with Voda and the touchscreen packed up after 8 months. Now Voda wont replace it, as they say it is water damaged, which shows how poor these phones are, as it hasn't been in contact with water or subjected to humidity - Voda have even admitted that water damage can happen in your pocket, but still refuse to replace it.
I would personally avoid Voda in future. I'm just letting my contract run down while I wait for the Nokia N96 to come out on 1 October, when I will move to Orange.

-Was looking at the SE G900, but decided against it, bit too annoying for me with a stylus! -Would wait for the N96, if not for the fact it's only a little bit better! -If the worst came to the worst, I could >.> sell the N95 on eBay and buy a sim-free N82, but it's not something I'd do through choice. -Vodafone, hm; they've been alright for me for the last five years, just don't like the branding on the phone software! Thanks0

n95 8gig not my choice - pixel on screen went yesterday - o2 shop saying i caused - centimetre long line vertically width about 2-3 millimetre.
so they want me to pay to repair somthing i did not do - on phone now cancelling o2 contract paying 11 months up front but i will not pay for something i did not do, crap phone - only 15 minutes hanging on trying to get o2 cancellations so far0 -
K850i is dreadful. Touchscreen buttons are terrible and it connects to the internet constantly. Camera is crap compared to the K800i (which is a great phone) and the menu system is more complicated than the k800i.
