One of my mates has a "factory" astra estate with LPG - it's really good, I don't know the numbers, but it does save him a lot in running costs...Performance-wise, I can't tell which one it's running on most of the time, you wouldn't notice the difference.0

Hi there
On a 90 litre tank you have to allow 10-20% for expansion therefore you cannot put a full 90 in, but its still cheaper than petrol.

But it cost you £1400 to get the conversion. It's got to take a while to recoup that sort of outlay?.....0

Hi there
Not really, when I had the car converted I could get gas for 35p a litre, so it has increased 15p. so obviously I prefer to buy a full tank of gas rather than petrol.thank you for your comments

The approx payback period is pretty easy to work out, cost of your current petrol costs per month (X) divide by 2 = (Y)
Cost of conversion (or extra cost of buying a car with LPG) divide by (Y) = months to profit.
This is very approximate, but a good indicator.0 -
There is another reason to go LPG, even if say over 2 to 4 years it only breaks even for you, and you are no better off.
Say the conversion costs £2K, you will have put that money into the hands of (hopefully) a local tradesman. If you had stayed on petrol, you would have paid the extra £2k fuel duty to the current bunch of incompetent crooks supposedly managing our poor country, who will fritter it away on jollies for themselves or other crooks. (maybe second homes or second mistresses).

The mpg is roughly the same. The main thing is the fact it's circa 50p per litre, rather than 110.9p for petrol...0
