    And www.megatrain.com/uk/ works equally well.

Just look at the top line on that web page and watch it change between megabus.com and megatrain.com :D

No, it still doesnt work. When you select, there is only bus option. No train option. There used to be Edinburgh - Manchester for eg. which is not available ...

It does work, if there's a train available. However, have a look here at the map of where the trains serve. The services from Scotland/Manchester etc have all gone. :(

The routes that Virgin lost earlier this month no longer have megatrain fares.

Megatrain fares are now availble on East Midlands Trains.

Fares start at £1 each way with 50p booking fee.

    Trains run Monday-Saturday starting 02/01/2008

Is there going to be replacement of those by arriva then?

I remember reading somewhere that that was one of the bullet points to manage empty trains.

That makes more sense as Virgin is not operating those lines anymore. Hopefully Arriva will continue operating those.

Seems like it is beneficial if you live in London then ....

    yes it works.

if you only find bus fares you are looking too far ahead - train fares are released approx 6 weeks in advance. Buses come out earlier.
