Applying for Credit without the Home Owners Permission

in Credit cards
Hiya
Im new here so I apologise if this is the wrong place to post this.
I currently live at home with my parents as does my sister. Unfortunately, my sister is not very good with her money and is currently overdrawn and also has a loan. My sister has now applied for a credit card that will be registered at my parents address so I am worried that if she does not keep up with her payments that their house will be blacklisted.
My first question is, is there any way my parents can put a block on my sister getting any credit cards or any sort of credit against their home. Secondly, if she does not keep up with her repayments, when I apply for a mortgage will I have a russibh credit rating or even regected because of her mistakes?

My understanding is that the property is not blacklisted, but the person. Provided you don't both have the same name (as that in the past has caused confusion) and that she doesn't attempt to secure any debt on property, I can't see why there should be an issue.
I don't believe your parents can put a block on it provided she is 18 or over - there would be no reason to as the debt would be against her and no one else.
That doesn't stop your parents having a long and hard chat with your sister in an attempt to stop her from from getting into debt and making sure she understands the implications of her actions. If she doesn't listen, I suggest they lock her in her room and not let her out!!!0 -
Thanks for that!
Unfortunately my sister is at that young and stupid age where she thinks she can look after herself.
I hope that is the case as I dont want my mortgage application to b affected by her stupidity!
I also dont see it as fair that she should be able to do this without my parents permission just because she is over 18!0 -
Nice to see the genuine reason for your comments!0

But it won't affect your parents financial situation.
There has to be an age where people are deemed responsible enough to make decisions for themselves...0 -
That is my understanding of the situation, however I'm not an expert by any means. I'm sure someone else will come along in a bit and also comment on your query (hopefully confirming what I have said).
It is a shame, but as you say, some people just won't be told and believe they know what they are doing. Perhaps you could get her to look on the debt free wannabee board so she understands which way she may be headed. Good luck...0 -
If you're over 18 then you are deemed to be an Adult, fully capable of making any decisions about Credit etc. WHat are you implying? that parents should be able to say no to credit for their offspring, till age 25, 30 or even 40 perhaps? And what time they should go to Bed?tribuo veneratio ut alius quod they mos veneratio vos0

Thanks Rabbidog for your comments but maybe if you had read my original post properly there would be no need for the sarcasm!!! I didnt know if her stupidity would affect me, now its been confirmed that it wont by someone a lot more helpful!!!0

Maybe if you had posted your question properly, and your own real concerns. We don't get to tell other people (competent Adults) , how to live their lives, however unfair you may feel that is..tribuo veneratio ut alius quod they mos veneratio vos0

Not once in my post did I say I wanted to tell her how to live her life. I was just looking for confirmation that the way she lives her life doesnt affect everyone else!0
