Transferring number from Vodafone to Vodafone
                    Hi Guys,
I have a problem. I currently have a contract with Vodafone has expired. I have tried retentions and they offered me a deal (£22.50 for 500mins and 100txt with C702), however I found a better deal (£25 for 600mins and unlimited text) on the Vodafone website (so I can get £90 cashback from quidco) this works out at £20 /month.
Retentions wouldn't match it so I told them 'no thanks'. I was then told that I wouldn't be able to transfer my number to another Vodafone phone (since I am already on Vodafone).
So my question is: Can i get round this problem? I was thinking that I could transfer to another sim (i.e. a free O2 Pay as you go) and then transfer to Vodafone, but was told that normally you must keep your number wit 1 provider for at least 6 months.
Any ideas?
If not I think I might bite the bullet and get an iPhone...
Cheers

I am in a similar position (or will be in a couple of months), so am interested in what people suggest.
Can you get your PAC code and use it to transfer your no. to a PAYG phone on another network, then a few days later get your PAC code and go back to Vodafone with it?.....0 -
no, not between the same provider.
I bit the bullet and changed provider... My 'AMAZING' number from previous T-mobile contract has been changed to PAYG, i will be porting this to orange next month
This allowed me to get the cashback etc0 -
My OH was in this situation this week. She was paying £15/month on a SIM-only contract but her phone is useless.
She sopke to vodafone store and they said they could port her to a Vodafone PAYG then move her to a contract a couple of days later.
Didn't need that because retentions gave her a £17.50 a month (12 month contract) with 150 mins 500 text which came with a Nokia 6210 for free. I thought that was a cracking deal for a brand new phone.NO RAIN - NO RAINBOWS
When did i stop being able to fit Hoola-Hoops over my fingers?:think:0 -
Would it be possible to transfer to PAYG and then the next day transfer to a contract or did you have to keep it with pay as you go for a certain amount of time?0

From what i understand, the only delay would be the time it would take to get the PAC code. I am not aware of any PAYG contract term - i can't see how they could enforce such a thing.
I would suggest if the company are desperate for your business they'll do whatever to keep you. If they don't want your business find someone with the deal that does.NO RAIN - NO RAINBOWS
