What do people think of Lloyds?

Internet banking is fine... except when it isn't and then you go into a branch to get it sorted and they say "sorry, this is an internet account and we don't deal with those in branch!" So, if you add an ISA online or an Online savings account to your current account and you need help, don't expect the branch staff to be helpful. When they underpaid interest on an online saver account recently and I couldn't get through to customer service on the 'phone I then found that the branch staff refused to start the enquiry even though they had access to all the account info on their system.
Setting up payments and managing direct debits is find online. When making faster payments in to TSB from outside the amount is transferred and appears instantly. When making a 'faster payment' from TSB the amount doesn't get transferred out of your TSB account until the next day. It's faster than before but not instant.
Branch queues seem longer then ever these days and branch staff a lot less friendly. Maybe they're stressed with meeting targets.
Do they put a marker on your file when you open an account. Yes they do. They mark you as a new customer and to give you special attention. It's interesting to ask to see your customer notes on their vdu screens; they'll let you if you ask. When you've been a customer for a year there's no special attention until you put a bit of money in your account and then, out of the blue, a junior in the branch rings you and says "I'm your account manager and I notice you've got a bit of money in your account. Have you got plans for that because we may be able to earn you a bit more interest on it!" (Meeting targets again!)
Overall, they're probably no better or worse than any other high street bank but their customer service has got worse over the years. The bank has also confirmed they recently messed up interest payments for all Classic Plus account holders which was not good news and another sign of things going wrong at TSB.0 -
. . . . and you can pay in via the Post Office (should you prefer PO queues to Lloyds TSB queues!) At least it means you don't have to go into a town if you don't need to - well, as long as your local PO stays open :rolleyes:0

You can operate your account on line or through the branch I have had no problems with Lloyds. You can transfer funds on line straight away if internal, set up standing orders and direct debits. i find it very convienent and if I have a problem I can always go to the branch.
I did have a problem with thier classic plus account not paying the correct interest for the month of July but the bank is sorting it out as it was a systems error.0 -
I realise that, but BPs don't drop off after 12 months without use, they remain there indefinitely.
Bill Payments or Tranfers can be deleted at anytime by removing the payee's details. It's all there on the left hand side of the screen. Just select 'Tranfers & Payments' & choose the payee you want to delete, click the appropriate button, confirm your password & as if by magic it disappears.0 -
Well opened my account today. Guy was very nice and friendly. Remembered my name and details from yesterday as well. So looks fine for the time being.
He did try and upsell the platinum accounts, but said just wanted a classic, but I opened a savings so he could get an extra point towards his target
I don't know where in HSBC you find these instant credit cash machines. As I put cash via a HSBC branch to my FD account and it didn't credit in my account until 4/5pm - so not very instant.
Thankfully I'll be getting rid of FD as Lloyds are transferring all my stuff across and hopefully I wont have half the trouble I had with FD. But I'm not expecting anything now - so should be fine

Don't forget to upgrade your account to a Classic Plus. You will get interest on your current account on balances upto £2500 and it will not cost you any monthly fee you only have to fund it with £1000 per month.0

If they transfer over direct debits for you DO keep an eye on them.
LTSB tried to transfer direct debits that were due within a few days and my old bank cancelled the direct debit but the beneficiaries (credit card, electricity, student loan) couldn't change their details fast enough (they submit details to their bank up to 10 days in advance) and all these payments didn't go through.
I had to phone up credit card and pay by debit card, get electricity to set up special dd payment, and pay a student loan installment by card too!Indecision is the key to flexibility

All m family have left LLoyds and gone to halifax. LLoyds are crap. They take forever to do things, add charges for no reason, which they sometimes admit, are generally rude. A family member worked for LLoyds for 18 years and left recently as she just couldn't stand the way they treat customers.
My advice, choose someone else!0
