Fundraising auction for my cousins 3yr old with cancer :-(

Options
:embarasse
Hi

My cousins daughter is 3 and has acute neuroblastoma. It seems the tumour has grown back and her mum and dad want to send her to America for potential life saving treatment which isn't available here for another 2 years?!!!!!

We are hoping to hold a charity auction combined with a fund day or ball.

Can anyone help with addresses for celebrities, I have searched but never quite sure if I have an official address or not. Has anyone written to a famous person before with success and could kindly pass on the address.

It would be greatfully received. Thank you

your first point of call would be to google the "celebrity PR -leeds" or wherever you live.

Also Id google "celebrity cancer" to see if any celebs have supported cancer trusts/ events before, or have experienced cancer themselves.

good luck, tis shocking that we all have to scrabble around to fundraise for something we should have already :(
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

Last year did some fundraising for a Christmas Party for disadvantaged children.

Wrote to JK Rowling via her publishers asking if she would be kind enough to donate a signed copy of her latest Harry Potter book.

About a month later we received the book and put it out to auction via e-mail - business contacts, specialist bookshops, etc. Didn't put it on e-bay as wasn't comfortable doing that. We raised £1,250.00 for it from a London bookshop. Did insist they paid cash as once the book was handed over if the cheque had bounced there would have been a problem and after all the book wasn't mine.

Below is an e-mail link to her publishers which has their address on.

Good luck with your fundraising events, am sure you will be successful and that the outcome will be positive.

Cdwow might be able to help too with your fundraising as they have for me for past two years with a box full of cds and dvds :)

    support@cd-wow.com

also try other companies and see what they can offer, some might not be able to because of supporting another charity but its worth asking :) Good Luck with the fundraising :)

also when I ask for celebrities autographs I go via their agent here: http://www.spotlightcd.com/ then put the artist name in and enter and the information will be found

Just a word of caution - if the money is going direct to the family, you cannot dsescribe it as a charity event. You can only describe it as such if the money is going to charity or a charitable cause. Although this is a worthy cause, a charity cannot only benefit one person. You also need to say what will happen to the money raised if you fail to reach the target, or indeed if you exceed the target.

Thanks Fengirl, I am trying to get used to typing fundraising auction, but sometimes slip back to charity auction. I did think about the fact of what will happen to the money under certain circumstances, will have to speak to my cousin so we can make a definte decision that can be publicised. Kind regards
  • google for celebrity agents in your area, I did this when I worked for a paediatric unit and wanted to get someone famous to open a children's art gallery - ended up with a nice lady from the local news!
Not a megastar but lovely with the kids! I am sure lots of agents can send out signed photos or merchandise.

Try this web site http://www.fanmail.biz/ it gives addresses for a lot of celebrities it's for fans but there is a forum where people who are organising auction have listed people who have replied and what they donated.
