it seems that only the Argos 'platinum' policy is proper a proper 'for life' policy, check the wording below, taken from their website:
Silver Cover
Covers vets fees up to £2,500 per condition for up to 12 months.
Gold Cover
Covers vets fees up to £4,000 per condition, for up to 12 months.
Platinum Cover
Covers vets fees up to £7,000 per year, with no limit to the length of treatment providing your premiums are kept up to date0 -
This may sound a daft question so please forgive me but I am looking at insurance for our pooch and unsure what to class her as.
Father is 100% british and mum is 50% British bulldog/50% old tyme bulldog so am I right in guessing she is technically a crossbreed??
I'm so confused with all these insurances really don't know where to start!
Thanks in advance, me & the pooch!!4th December 2010 - The day I married my best friend, all that's left to do now is live happily ever after :heartpuls0 -

what breed is your dog registered as at your vet? that's the breed to put down on the insurance, otherwise if you list it as cross-breed, when it is deemed a bulldog, it could make you insurance invalid.
start with the two best providers - Petplan and AXA. and completely avoid avoid E&L insurance
good luck x0 -
Sounds like a Bulldog to me - an Old Tyme is a forerunner of the British Bulldog right? Your dog is 75% British Bulldog. You can call the insurance company for a chat beforehand. Certain breeds have certain inherent health problems so it is important to be accurate. A cross breed would be more like staffy x bulldog imho.0

So I have spoken to the vet and they have said they class Ferg as a British Bulldog Cross so am I right in saying I need to register her as a crossbreed? I have rang AXA but they werent too helpful4th December 2010 - The day I married my best friend, all that's left to do now is live happily ever after :heartpuls0

Hi, can anyone offer any advice about argos platinum cat insurance?
It looks as though it is for life cover, £7,000 per year for £5.70 per month but seems too good to be true.
If, as I expect it isn't true, can anyone offer any advice for insuring 2 males cats, both about 10 months old with no health problems?
Thanks in advance.0 -

looks like a good policy with good benefits, but be aware they can change underwriters at any time and your insurance policy benefits may get changed for the worse. also, check what happens to the excess once your pet gets 'elderly' (usually deemed as 8 or 10 years old) - most policies make you liable for a percentage of the claim (anything up to 35%).
you may also want to check that your vet will do direct claims with argos.
