If you need a quick work around, download Sourceforge PDF creator, and then print your CV to a PDF document, which your prospective employer can open.

It's not a solution, but it'll get you out of a hole for this occasion.

Everyone who is posting is not realising that you **first** have to install the Office Compatability Pack from my first link otherwise you don't get the option to save as Word97-2003

Both my links would have solved your problem by now :D

No, your wrong. Read the OP again. They already have Office 2007 and want to save in a previous format which can be done with Word itself, without any addons. Smart !!!! :p

no basically I have office 2007! I have been emailing my cv as .docx to employeers. I wanted to save the file as .doc so most computers can open it easily.

    More Importantly...

I have now recieved an email from a recruiter saying they cannot access my cv. Most probly because they dont have the compatibility software but I dont want to tell them that as they may think I am rude. When I click save as office 97-03 it still saves it as .docx

    thankx in advance

If you want, email me (my address is [myusername] at [myusername] dot co dot uk) and I'll convert it to .doc for you.

Strange I have Office 2007 and didn't add on any extras and I just select save-as and then save it as a .doc file instead of a .docx file.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!

    Well lets try again.

    1) My link to zamzar (as would a number of other online convertors) would solve the problem straight away. [this solution has been totally ignored by the OP and other posters]

    2) The advice about the Office Compatability pack is still sound - its still a good idea (and helps on Office 2007 programs) to save backwards - I'll admit that its not logical, but if you search around you'll find its quite often the solution.

    Other solutions :
    1) Microsoft also do a free download for Save as PDF

    2) Cut and paste the text into Wordpad (its a standard program in Windows and use the doc format
