I can do better than that.....
http://lifehacker.com/399883/make-word-2007-default-to-doc-filetype
in the mean time just click massive round office icon in top left corner
select save as and select the correct option (look for word 97-2003)The orginal post in this thread has a very very slim chance of being about money saving. The post is more than likely to ask a question that google could answer better than any of us.0 -
You need to either install http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=941b3470-3ae9-4aee-8f43-c6bb74cd1466&displaylang=en
or use an online conversion service like https://www.zamzar.com0 -
If you are using 20007 you should be able to save as a doc rather than a docx
That is the one that says save as a word document compatable with 97 -03 on the drop down list .0 -
I DONT KNOW, I TRIED THAT AND THEN SAVED IT AND IT STILL COMES UP WITH .DOCX file
I even tried copy and paste the work into a new document but it still does not make a diffrence
it comes up with .docx and not .doc0 -
Go to 'Save as' then change the 'save as type' to Word 97-2003.0

Everyone who is posting is not realising that you **first** have to install the Office Compatability Pack from my first link otherwise you don't get the option to save as Word97-2003
Both my links would have solved your problem by now0 -
I think that compatability pack is for previous office versions to be able to open .docx files and not for office 2007 to save to .doc0

As iamwildthing says if the OP is already creating docx files then they must be using Office 2007. If they're using Office 2007 then the compatibility pack is useless and superfluous. It's only meant for Office versions older than 2007 and 2007 already has the ability inbuilt to save as previous MS Office filetypes. It wouldn't surprise me if trying to installing it in Office 2007 causes quite a few problems, if it can be installed at all."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

ive had a few office 2007 installs and windows update has asked for the compatability pack..dunno what it did but it installed ok.
but as said you dont need it to use Save As
we have been able to Save As other versions of office programs for as long as i can rememberThe orginal post in this thread has a very very slim chance of being about money saving. The post is more than likely to ask a question that google could answer better than any of us.0 -
no basically I have office 2007! I have been emailing my cv as .docx to employeers. I wanted to save the file as .doc so most computers can open it easily.
More Importantly...
I have now recieved an email from a recruiter saying they cannot access my cv. Most probly because they dont have the compatibility software but I dont want to tell them that as they may think I am rude. When I click save as office 97-03 it still saves it as .docx
thankx in advance0
