Blueyonder Broadband Upgrades!

Everyone seems to be getting quite excited about these free upgrades (not necessarily on this forum but..)! Some people get it before others (bit unfair, but thats the way it is!). Like many I've been trying to find out when mine are going to happen.

I found this, been keeping my eye on it:

http://www.blueyonder.co.uk/status/summary.do

Under todays maintenence, it shows the UBR upgrades. They do a couple of UBR updates in each area each day. Eg. Today, Solihull (:D that's mine), UBR 01, 02, 03 are being upgraded today!

To find out which UBR you are in, go to:

http://tools.blueyonder.co.uk/

Click 'See my Enviroment Variables'. Look at 'REMOTE_HOST' and you will see part of the host name has UBR** (** = Number) in it!

My upgrade should be happening today! How ever, a UBR upgrade does not mean your speed will be up instantly. They will spend a few hours testing first, then send the new configuration, straight to your modem!

I can't wait! Anyone else had their upgrade yet?

The speed increase is fine, but a lot of people have had problems with the upgrades. Once thats out of the way,its running great.

Heres a good site with plenty of info: http://evenfaster-faq.brion.me.uk/

One good thing I found. If you need any support, try the blueyonder internet newsgroup. The techs hang out there and will make a lot of adjustments straigt away without having to send engineers out (quicker than phoning too)

  • Mine has been upgraded from 1mb to 4mb. It happened about two weeks ago. I haven't been formally notified( I thought i'd get an email). I noticed my download speeds shot up. I checked the speeds with ADSLguide.

I am in the Merseyside area.

    I am a happy bunny.

It maybe worthwile checking your speeds now!

Still nothing in West Yorkshire. And if you ask them, they simply send you a load of marketing rubbish about how expensive BT is. Hardly an answer to a legitimate question. I'm paying £25 for 1MB, other TW users are paying £17.99 for 4MB.
    Thanks in advance,
