A Google search shows a lot of hits for ELG Marketing - the top results are for threads on sites from people with complaints about this company, and company references for firms with the same/similar names in Alabama and Amsterdam. If anyone can shed any more light on their location, that would help narrow it down further.

I hope this helps...... and that your dad doesn't fall into the trap of preasured sales.
  • I just tried to bank my lotto winnings from ELG Marketing Establishment of $23.45.
This measly amount of money just bounced. The bank sent the cheque back and I get a dishonour fee.
    Pretty dodgy company.

The European Lottery Guild appear to have a have a long and colourful history if this letter from the Guardian in 2003 is to be believed (scroll down a bit)

If you have a bargepole, don't put it anywhere near this outfit and be very cautious that any time you buy a lottery ticket, that you are paying the lottery direct and not an intermediary.

If you enjoyed the TV series Miami Vice, you'll enjoy this further article.

I cannot vouch for the accuracy or authenticity of either article, or indeed their relevance to the current company, but they're on the internet for the public to read.
Never ever give your card details to anyone over the phone, and check the reputation of any company you do intend to give them to.

  • My 85 year old father-in-law has been paying £265 from his cc to this company and had no idea what for. Now he has stopped payments and alerted his bank but I don't know if he will get anything back. Seems this is a common problem.

I was checking my bank account because there are several people at work who have had money taken from their accounts after using a local ATMs. I found a payment for £6 for a company called AILA. I contacted my bank and they said it was for American/African Immigration Lawyers Association. I had authorised payments with ELG for £6 per month and it looks like this was taken for two months and then changed to AILA for the past 4 month. I am a bit suspicious of this so am getting the payments stopped. ECG are a pain anyway. They are always phoning and trying to get you to spend more money. Even when I explain I am an OAP and can't afford any more they say that it is only an extra £.... surely I can afford that if it gives me more chance of winning. Their phone calls show up as international so I have just stopped answering the phone when they phone. I also get a couple of letters a week from them suggesting that I enter this lottery and that lottery. I wish I had never got involved with them but it is my own fault, I filled out a form for the Irish Lottery because a friend said she goes into the bookies and bets on it weekly and is always winning. I have never been in a bookies in my life, nor do I particularly want to, so thought I would enter it this way.:(
