Most Westies have skin problems but this is normally easily fixed by correcting their diet and exercise. It really has nothing do with making money, more with him passing his good genes on to his next generation
Not all Westies have skin problems and therefore you shouldn't purposely breed from a dog that has them. What is your reason for studding him? He hasn't got good genes to pass on if he suffers from this affliction. This sort of thing needs breeding out not into a dog.0 -

He is fit & healthy, fully up to date with jabs etc, chipped and well looked after.

Hi Penny - Pincher
I would just enjoy him as a well loved pet and forget about trying to "stud" him.
Any reputable breeder with a !!!!! looking for a stud will pick the best dog s/he can. That usually means one that has done well in shows as being of breed standard, no health problems, be hip and eye scored and will also need to be genetically compatible with the !!!!!. So the likely hood of a reputable breeder wanting your lad is pretty slim.
Secondly, a dog that has serviced a !!!!! can become what can only be discribed as "c**k struck". Theres the probability that whenever a !!!!! in the vacinity comes into season, he will be off after her and believe me, when a dog has only one thought in his mind, recall goes out of the window and its not unheard of a dog running across roads, railways whatever to get to his goal (and ending up in the vets or even dead).
The other thing to think about is cost to you. If things go wrong then you will have hefty vets bills to pay. Dogs and !!!!!es can get seriously damaged when mating if the owners dont know what they are doing and then theres also the possibility of the whelping going wrong, once again, high vetinary bills and the possibility of losing the pups and/or the !!!!!.
I would advise that you go and do more research into it and speak to a few reputable breeders and your vet. personally i would leave the breeding to those that know what they are doing and just love the wee fella for what he is - a pet0 -
This thread started before we had a dedicated Pets Board, and has been moved over from the Old Style Board.
I can't merge these older threads into the Great Feed, House and Treat your Pets Hunt sticky, because some of them will then appear before Martin's first post there. So I'm closing this and we'll add to the other in future.Signature removed for peace of mind0
