Traveling while on DMP

No worries

What do your parents suggest? They're obviously quite keen on the trip as they're willing to help with the travel costs.
As I said before though, I reckon you go for it
What do you suggest that they do about any contact from their creditors whilst away? Send them a postcard?

How are you going to pay for your DMP while you are away, if your parents won't fund this? Will you be working while away?

If you can continue paying your DMP while away - why does that effect your debt free date?

Jesus. If I'd know people were going to be this judgemental. I'd would never have asked the question.
Do you think it's irresponsible to work over sixty hours each week and sometimes over eighty and at the same time study in the little spare time I get to further my career. All to pay my debts off. I know I got myself in this mess. That's why I'm sorting it out.
Do you think it's irresponsible to turn down the opportunity of a life time like this when it's handed to you on a plate. I may never have this chance again.
I have no intention of leaving my parents to deal with anything that happens. As I said. I would continue to pay my DMP every month I am away.
I was looking for advice as to whether I'd be able to deal with anything like CCJs over the phone with payplan whil I was away. Not your thoughts on me personaly.
Then when I get back I would be in a position after two or three months to offer full & finals.Debt free May 20110 -
I wasn't judging - just confused by some of your comments?
If it helps any, I got a stroppy comment on another board implying that I'm in debt because I run a dishwasher and don't wash up by hand  Worked out the electric and tablets must cost about £20 a year :rolleyes:Newlywed at the point I joined the forum... now newly separated0 -

Right - so you would be abroad, paying your full DMP payments and because your trip is funded by your parents you wouldn't actually be incurring any more debt?
Puts a different slant on things, if you ask me
Wasn't quite that clear from your posts

Not You newlywed. Other people on this post.
It's not very motivating when your tired all the time from working two jobs plus overtime & studying to pay your debts off to be called irresponsible.

Yeah but until you answered my questions, I thought you were saying you wanted a 3 month break from your DMP to go travel.
You didn't make it very clear that you would still be paying your DMP while away so the creditors don't actually lose out
That's probably why you got some of the stroppy comments - to stop paying off debts to run round the world is one thing - to carry on paying the debts off and to go on a paid holiday and not incur more debt is another matter really
I've got 4 more years on my DMP and if someone offered us a fully paid holiday where I can still pay my DMP and bills and we wouldn't get into any more debt - I'd go (though 3 months worth isn't really practical for the kids school

I can understand that you want to go, who wouldn't
.
Unfortunately I dont think its the most sensible thing to do.
If your parents are willing to pay for your travels, would they not help you pay off your debt instead?
Im sure if you did get the opportunity for a holiday of a lifetime in a few years time you would have a much more enjoyable time not having the debt. Deep down Im sure you know yourself what the best decision is.
Good luck in whatever you decide to do.0 -

You posted asking for opinions on whether you should go. If you were not prepared for responses disagreeing with you, or you just wanted big hugs, then you should not have posted.
I still think that you are irresponsible. I don't think that you should not go on holiday whilst on a DMP, but I think a three month jolly is taking the p*ss.
Maybe going on the holiday, and spending the whole time worrying about what a mess your credit file could be by the time you return, will make you grow up a bit? :rolleyes:Gone ... or have I?0
