Surely you would be better to stay at home and work, so that you could pay off your debts more quickly?
You have a link in your sig, which needs to be removed unless it has been authorised by the MSE Team.Gone ... or have I?0 -
Hi Jimmer. You say that at your current rate of saving etc, you should be debt free in a years time, couldn't you wait til that's all sorted before you go? Would your friend be willing to wait a few months?
It'd be a massive weight off your shoulders and you'd have a far better time on your travels, without worrying what your debts are doing back in rainy England!
Aiming for that elusive 'debt free' by Christmas 2012

Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -

I'm just concerned about the creditors going for CCJ's etc while I'm away. It would be a shame for it all to go down the pan when I'm so near the end.
I can't save any more than I am now. I'm already working over sixty hours a week. Sometimes more. I'm not going out at all and the only driving I do is to and from work.
The debt process will not be put on hold whilst you are away (I doubt that any creditor will have sympathy for you when they learn that you are on an extended holiday), so why mess it up?
A three month holiday would be a dream for most of us, including those of us that have no debt. However, most of us would put our responsibilites first.
I have been thinking about this since you posted, and it really leaves a bad taste in my mouth.Gone ... or have I?0 -
Hi,
I think you've already made up your mind to go.
All of the comments here are NOT to go.
Guess you're going to have a worrisome holiday next year!
Cheers,

If anyones got any ideas on how to earn more money, so I can pay the debts off quicker. I'd appreciate it.
I suppose I cam here to see if anyone else had done this previously.
I understand the thoughts behind not doing it. As I'd be able to pay my debts off early.
I just don't want to look back in year and regret missing this chance. I may never have it again.
I don't appreciate comments like 'Guess you're going to have a worrisome holiday next year'. As that will cause me to worry more if I decide to go. It's not very supportive.
Would that be the chance to get your life back on track by clearing your debt, or the chance to go off on a jolly?
You are being completely irresponsible. You are an adult, you need to take responsibility for your actions (or will you just leave your parents to deal with any court letters, or bailiffs that turn up at the door?).
(I'm not even going to comment on your plans to become an accountant!)Gone ... or have I?0 -
No worries

What do your parents suggest? They're obviously quite keen on the trip as they're willing to help with the travel costs.
As I said before though, I reckon you go for it
