Kaupthing Login 6 Aug 2008

Cannot login to KE a/c at the moment. I gave them a call, and they told me they are having server upgrade issues. Should be resolved by this afternoon (their words).

I've been having problems since yesterday and called them today to be told the same thing. After entering my login details I get a dialog box which says 'Your login details are incorrect, please try again'.

Wish they'd post something on their login page to inform their customers!

Same here - couldn't login yesterday, tried again today, no go, so rang them...

got told of the upgrade issue that has caused problems for the last week - should be fixed "shortly", but as I asked the operative "if a week has already passed, what does shortly mean?"...

on the plus side, they did then do a transfer of funds for me, on the phone.

Yesterday, I got the spiel that the servers were down and supposed to be back up by midday. After a further call they promised to call back! Huh
Today is just the same. This 'problem' also happened 3 months ago with the same excuse by thier operators. And not a word of this on the website!

This bank does not appear trustworthy at all.

I tend to agree. I have banked online with various outfits since about 2001. Whenever they (rarely) have had issues, they are very upfront about it. I have had an account with KE for a couple of weeks and now this.

If this continues then I think I will withdraw everything and throw it at the mortgage!

  • I also have recently experienced problems logging in, where the process does not seem to like the sequence of 1st, 2nd & 3rd letters of my memorable word. It's only 5 letters, so I know I'm not getting it wrong!

If I start the process from scratch it usually lets me in (provided it's not the same sequence).

However, of much more concern is miscalculation of interest. I recently opened a 3 year term account which pays a great rate (cumulative 7.67%)
Per the calculation on their website prior to opening the account, interest at the end of the 3 years would be £6903 & I am sure this figure is what was showing on my account after I opened it.

When I accessed the account yesterday I suddenly found the terminal interest showing had fallen to £4504!!

I e-mailed them and got the following reply today -

    "Thank you for your enquiry,

We have recently upgraded our system and have experienced a minor issue
which we are currently looking into. We are confident it will be resolved
shortly and any interest that has been shown as calcualted incorrect, will
be backdated once this is updated via the online the account."

    My response was -

"Many thanks for your prompt reply.....however, I can assure you that from a customer's point of view this is a significantly more than a "minor
issue".......it nearly caused me to close my account!

I have also found that the Login process has failed me several times
recently when entering my Memorable Word.....it seems to fail when asked for the 1st, 2nd & 3rd letters (as mine is only a 5 letter word I am certain it is not an error on my part).

If I start the whole Login process again, it accepts the Memorable word,
provided it is not the 1st, 2nd & 3rd letter in sequence.

I have a number of Internet based bank accounts and I have never experienced this type of problem with either Login or (particularly) Interest
    calculation.

If I can't rely on the integrity of your systems I have to question whether
Kaupting is the right place to make an investment.

Frankly, I find it very worrying, particularly as with the Term Account, I
have nothing in writing to confirm the interest I should receive at the end
    of a 3 year period.

Therefore, I must request confirmation from you in writing that the interest
I will receive on £30,000 after 3 years is £6915.61, as per your website
    calculator."

It's bad enough that they have the problems but unforgivable that they aren't keeping customers informed on their website.

On my login I am asked for the whole memorable word not part of it.

It's the password that I am asked for various letters from - are you sure you're not getting mixed up?

Regarding the password, they expect a capital for the 1st letter even if your password was all lower case. Its a problem thats been discussed here before. Allways works if you capitalise the 1st letter.
I have a 6month fixed rate account and the calculated maturity interest displayed also changes. It was correct for a few days after opening then the figure dropped, a few days later it was correct again and now it is the lower figure again.

Edit:- Just logged in with no problems but £0.00 is given for maturity interest. A note at the foot of the page says

** The online accrued interest calculation facility is being suspended temporarily while system improvements are made. We thank you for your patience.
