Idiot buyer with 0 feedback

Hi I sold a phone today on ebay, the buyer then emailed me to say that they endered the incorrect amount leaving only 30 seconds till the end. What winds me up is that the auction lasted 7 days and this idiot bids on the last 30 seconds to miss up my auction. Theres no point leaving him neg feeback as he has no feedback what an idiot!!!! Rant over.

Reminds me of some of my instances with idiot buyers.

You will always get one on Ebay, just grit your teeth and carry on.

  • I would still leave him feedback so he becomes a -1 idiot buyer. Not only that you need to warn other potential sellers of his antics!

yeah I know but then I will get a negative one as well. People like these are just idiots that waste peoples time and money. Now I've got the hassle of filling a non buyer compliant and all that hasstle just don't need it really.
  • Unfortunately this is the downside to eBay. Could be worse though. You could be facing a Paypal chargeback!

Why don't you just offer it to the next highest bidder as a "second chance offer" through the eBay system - that's what it's there for.

If that person takes you up on your offer then you don't need to bother about reclaiming fees, relisting, NPB procedure or with leaving negative feedback for the idiot!

No, sellers should always go through the NPB process purely because it puts a strike on the buyers account. With a new account that might be enough to get the user suspended and a suspended user can't leave feedback or muck up other sellers auctions.

Also under the new feedback rules a buyer that does not respond to the NPB process will lose the right to leave feedback any way.

Finally, have you checked how much your final value fees are on the phone? You might be shocked, they are probably worth getting back from ebay. If you sell to the second highest bidder you will end up paying two lots of FVFs.

just what i did with a non paying buyer, will teach them to make lame excuses about problems paying. I am not really bothered about getting a negative at this stage but if they negate me i,ll be giving them a even better one in return.

If it is someone with 0 feedback, it could be a newbie who made a genuine mistake. I would calmly (!) correspond with them and make them aware that if they made an error, it's for them to sort it out and take the consequences.

Should they leave you negative feedback, you can dispute this with eBay and have it removed if you have the substantiating evidence. I think not using insulting language with the 'buyer' will work in your favour if you have to involve eBay.

I can't see anyone that suggests using insulting language to the buyer?

How can someone bid by mistake, there are three screens to go through before a bid is confirmed so pretty difficult especially for a newbie. Also as you say innovate this 'mistake' has resulted in costs for the seller and I don't see why the seller should suffer, so go through the NPB process (DON'T do a mutual) as at least the seller will get the FVfs back.

You would need a court order to get it removed if it was merely untrue or insulting.
