Ex partner left me with huge debts

This man has used had my credit profile checked to get a car and a personal loan. Is this fraud? I have also just received a letter from the Halifax addressed to his ex wife regarding a change of address. Is this fraud? I can't do anything about the debts as they are all in my name. He made me give up work and was supposed to be paying the bills but he was stashing the money away. Probably in his ex wifes bank account. He has moved on to his next target and I'd like to put a stop to his carry ons. Please give me suggestions.

Sorry to hear he did this to you, if all the debts are in your name then i am afraid he's landed you right in it.Life is about give and take, if you can't give why should you take?0

Are the police interested?
Name and shame in woman's mag?0 -
Sorry its not clear to me.
The debts are in your name but did you sign the credit agreement forms? Did the money for the loans ever come into your bank account (either single or joint). If you did sign then its not fraud and you are liable.
If you did not sign and/or the money never hit your account then it is fraud and you should inform the police, tell them you have no knowledge of the loans until now.0 -
If he's taken loans out in your name without your permission, then yes, that's fraud.
Any loan that you signed for, you are responsible for.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
All I know is that on my credit report I have had searches done regarding loans. I have signed nothing and I have had no money. Is this enough to go to the police with? I have written to Experian. And I have written to the Halifax regarding hiw wifes bank account.
And thanks for the advice about debt free wannabe. I will go there too.
Thank you for all your help0 -
If you are "linked" financially to him then any credit he applies for might result in a search of your credit report. Do/did you have a joint mortgage or a joint loan with him?0

GO TO THE POLICE OF COURSE ITS ILLEGAL!!!! someone else can't get a loan in your name so it sounds like his ex is playing you when they go to the bank?? forging your signature??? jesus i would have been to the police yesterday
