I saw today whilst shopping at tescos, there is an offer for "buy one get one free" on the ambi-pure candels which normal price is £4.99.

Then I found on the shelf, a double pack of two ambi-pure candels with a sticky label on saying "buy one get one free, free candel enclosed". This was side by side with all the other ambipure single candels. which had been priced on the shelf with a yellow label explaining all the single candels were BOGOF

I bought two of the double packs where the extra candel was attached/inside the packet and expected to be paying £4.99 per pack and so in all pay £9.98, but nope, I got buy one get one free even on the double pack! This means I paid £4.99 for 4 ambipure candels!! so £1.24-ish a candel! (rrp£4.99 each).

The double packs I have not seen before, I assume they are a new thing for the moment and that Tescos has not latched onto this just yet, so be quick as when they do I would imagine they will take the offer off the BOGOF/double pack!
  • Or better still, go to Ikea where their scented candles are a pound each or less... :)
Thanks to all who post constructively.

do u all spend a lot in tescos every week to get enough in deals for cars and holidays

I spend under a tenner a week in money but well over £100 in money-off coupons. So I earn the points but don't spend much at all. My local stores are fine with it BTW as I use legit in-date manufacturers coupons, no duplicates and no Somerfield/Sainsburys unredeemable carp.

But many save lots of points without using coupons, they just buy tons and tons of whatever has extra points on it, use extra point codes a lot online, recycle old phones and ink cartridges for extra points etc. Use every extra points bonus coupon that comes your way (unless the cost of the item is stupidly high and something you don't want).

Take a look at the Tesco threads on the Discount Codes & Vouchers forum for ideas. You'll never earn enough points just by 'normal' spending alone IMHO - you need to specifically have points as your focus and shop accordingly, either instore or online.

It's a different mindset than most shoppers have but fairly easy to learn and addictive too!
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Where do you get all those coupons from? It's amazing that you can find over £100 in coupons each week. I don't see very many advertised or get many out of magazines.

Yeah but they don't tend to smell as strong, and plus if like me you live in zone 4, it costs a lot of £££ to travel to Ikea, plus the fuss of tubes and buses being jam packed...all for a candle?

Tescos is easier if you are not near an Ikea!

And if you have small kids, I guess the ambi-pure candles are a lot safer - won't cause a fire if they get knocked over!!

Spotted this large silver wall clock for £1.60 which struck me as a bargain. Has second hand, numbers and minutes between digits marked on it. (Vital for perfect boiled eggs!) Apparently they came in pine and antique finish too, but none left on the shelves.
The shelves in the freezer cabinet where the salmon kebabs had been were empty too, sadly, but we did get some lemon bean-burgers for 25p a pack and turkey steaks for 59p.

ooh thank you.... reminds me of the Boots Lynx deal with their £4.99 boxes 2 for £4 a few months ago!

I think these were the candles I was thinking of getting in the Co op which are in the promotional packs - will definitely check Tescos on Tuesday first now and see if I can get a better deal! thanks OP!
