Can I cancel An Auction After Its Finished?

I wasn't able to end my auction early before it reached its normal end. Can I cancel the auction now that it is finished? Does anyone have an appropriate link?

Thanks

If your auction finished with a winner then you obviously can't cancel it. Just accept payment and ship item. If you don't have the item or have broken it or something then start grovelling to your buyer now and you might avoid a non performing seller warning and a negative.

If your auction finished without a winning bidder then you don't need to so anything.

theoretically an ebay auction is a binding contract, but realistically whats to stop you NOT shipping it, emailing the buyer and explaining why and reimbursing him?

After all sometimes buyers dont pay, so its not as if all ebay auctions succeed.

He may leave you neg feedback though...

The item is not in the condition as listed due to an error in the listing.

I tried to cancel within the 12 hour limit, but was too late.

E-mailed the buyer but have had no response.

well lets face it, if you continue with the transaction he is going to be fairly miffed that its not in the condition he thought, then hes going to expect you to pay postage back etc etc.

did he pay by paypal? you can issue a refund easily.
  • In connection with this, how can I cancel an auction after its finished to get my fees back. My buyer claims he mis read the auction and now wants to pull out. I know hes technically bound to pay me but this wont happen so is there a way to mutually cancel an auction

    Thanks

As the answers above suggest you can't cancel an auction once you have a winning bidder.

To claim back your final value fees you have two options, both of which involve the NPB process. Option one is a straightforward NPB where you state that the buyer will not pay, or does not meet your auction terms, the second way is by filing a mutual NPB where you can say that both you and the buyer have agreed not to proceed.

The difference between the two methods is the first one guarantees you your FVFs back whereas the mutual option only gives you your FVFs back if the buyer agrees that he does not want to proceed.

The other difference is that if you do a straightforward NPB claim and the buyer does not respond at all any feedback he leaves will have the rating removed, although the comments will remain.

If you refund the money then it will show as being unpaid. Once it goes over 7 days since the end of the listing, you get an option for ebay to send a reminder.

If you follow through the options, you reach one which says that the buyer and seller have agreed not to complete the sale. eBay then contact the buyer to confirm this and you then get your fees back.

On two occasions when packing an item it's not been as good as i thought so i sent a part refund with the goods, both times buyer has been very happy, it might be an idea for you if they aren't responding to email
