Thanks.
My store has been closed for a refurb. Went in yesterday and they had opened without having anything on the shelves, there was just piles of stuff on the floor next to the shelves.

Airwick natural pearls air freshners, a perspex pot with scented 'pearls' and a ventilated lid. Forest Herb fragrance. Plus some refills in three different fragrances. Also the Airwick flip'n'fresh (think thats the name), in a fruity variety.

My local 99p store is now sporting some Belkin 12foot/3 meter digital optical cables, the sort you use to hook your DVD/blu-ray player up to an external surround sound system.
They come with a little electrical jack connector as well, which from memory is sometimes used with some soundcards (I think normally that would cost a few pounds on it's own).
I picked a couple up as I use them with my surround sound system, and can use them to hook my PC up to the surround sound0 -

Always silk collection with wipes, Katy perry pop chips at 3 packs for 99p, hello kitty hairbands in a lollipop, also saw some disney princess puzzles, tatty bear crayon set, tatty bear drawing pad, these would all make great stocking fillers.
Forgot to add John west no drain tuna in sunflower oil, went into waitrose and its £2 a can, oh and they had the tuna in French dressing in packets, those were £1.59 in mr w.Lose 28lb 3/28lb

Went to a large branch in Essex to investigate the bargain factor and was impressed, it was much better than my local one even post-refurb.
Of note:
- the Always Silk plus wipes were in lacks of 10
- there were loads of toiletries, including Clean and Clear facial wash (150ml) and imported Neutrogena grapefruit facial wash (strangely 177ml, but I guess other markets go with 6oz)
- Johnson's baby oil gel, really scrummylicious for silky smooth skin.
- Garnier vanishing cream
- cooking equipment: I was really surprised at the quality of the measuring spoons and cups (4 sizes per pack). I would have been vulnerable if I didn't have both already.
- small packs if wasabe nuts, 3 for 99p and v handy as a handbag snack
- packs of KP chilli peanuts, 100g or 150g I think.
- packs of stroopwaffles (labelled as syrup waffles)
- 3 bars of Walker's chocolate for 99p. There was only the milk left, which I am guessing is not v nice. If it was dark I would have snapped it up for my baking stash.
The 99p Shop has really upped its game, I am impressed. I could have easily gone to town on the goodies, but walked away on this occasion. Pity I didn't show the same restraint half an hour later in Poundland....!Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Can I just post a non-bargain?
I usually get the value facial tissues from supermarkets at around 59-69p a go with around 150 tissues, they're thin but they serve the purpose (as long as you don't have very chapped skin).
However, I'd seen in my local Poundland and 99p stores, a brand called "Silk and Soft" where you could pick up 2 boxes of 100 tissues in either king-size or regular size for; 99p or £1 depending on the store.
If you see these tissues, don't do what I did and buy a few boxes- buy one and test them out! I thought when buying "how bad can they be?" Well, they're actually the worst tissues I've bought!
They don't absorb anything; any ...erm, liquids/facial water loss (use your imagination) doesn't get absorbed and sits on the surface- I'd spilled something and grabbed a few tissues as they were near to hand and all these tissues did was move the spill around the table, they absorbed so little that within minutes I could have reused the tissues again for attempting to blow my nose!
It's as if they have a mildly waxy covering and whilst this may be softer on chapped skin, it does nothing for the tissue but makes it worse.
In addition, they fall apart really easily. I think there are 3 or 4 layers of tissue and if you use them on sticky hands or anything vaguely sticky or damp (not wet), the top layer will stick and the additional layers just peel off the top layer. If you use tissues at all for things like blotting foundation make-up this will apply to you. If you use tissues to try to wipe the hands of greedy-snatch-and-grab toddlers this will apply to you. If you sometimes need a tissue to wipe your eyes after crying, this also will apply to you.

Thanks Jenniewb, I had bought them before but wasn't convinced of their value vs other stores. Actually I now but the man size twin pack in Lidl, they are as good as Kleenex IMO. OH likes them (he uses them more than me) so for the sake of a few pennies I stick with those.Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16
