That's got nout to do with scoring mate, it's because the AVU have spotted discrepancies between existing and previous applications to the RBS group.

My OH has the exact same problem and after doing a little digging on the phone to them it transpires that due to the discrepancies he needs to hold off five years before applying to them again.

nah, its their internal fraud application checking unit - it checks everything not just internal app's to the group. As for the 5 years, lol, that's not true. Banking practice dictates 6 months between same organisation applications not 5 years :rotfl: :rotfl:

They'd have no customers if they said that lol. Remember we have RBS staff on here who also confirm my opinion of AVU...and I have had a lot of dealings with them :p

They said five years because that's how long they hold application data on file, hence that's how long they'd still see the discrepancies for and throw the application out.

Doesn't matter, I'm trying to get OH to stay with Lloyds and use his Halifax Reward just for the fiver and not everyday banking as IMHO Lloyds are better than HBOS.

Don't need any RBS Group rubbish around here...

They keep records for 6 years, which is the minimum period according to HMRC (different laws tell them what to do)..... remember mate it depends who you speak to, depends what you get told.

I was speaking to their governance and fraud manager - on simething unrelated and he told me very basic things but pretty much confirmed they are the last line of defence before granting facilities.

I take that to mean they pick-up anything that just doesn;t seem right or add up. But they retain data for 6 years, they simply have to. :p

p.s. yea I agree they are rubbish and I don't want to use them but cos they said no, I want them to say yes (you know how it is lol).... so if they do say yes, i'll then close the account anyway!

    Hello
I'm fairly sure the answer is no (hope so anyway). But somebody who has had their mail forwarded to my address (not actually living here) has had a court summons for non payment of Council Tax *sigh*
Could this have an implication on mine, or my husbands credit rating?
Could you point me in the direction of any links/resources?

    Cheers

Nope, nothing to do with you so you send letters back as unknown at this address. Could it be the previous tenant? regardless, dont open them just send them back.

Nothing can be linked to an address, it is the person that holds a credit record, not the address. ;)

Thank you NID. It's my Mother In Law who has recently moved to the area. I've passed the letter on, I was fuming but unecessecarily it seems!

Did you get a letter confirming that you're account had been opened with an a/c number, sort code, account features, etc, before the letter from the AVU telling you where to stick it? OH did...

Yes mate - exactly. I even got the card sent and deactivated the same day - grrrr (servicecard £100).....

But the other times I just got a letter sent back with the 'sorry' bit on it. That said, for the 1 day my last account was open they did send a statement too, opening and closing statement! :rotfl:

  • Hi - I recently opened a new current account and changed the registered address to the property I am currently renting. With all my previous credit history being associated with my parents address, how long should I anticipate it to take before my credit rating improves? I checked it recently and it was horrendous! And I was hoping to get a new credit card as I am now paying interest on it.

If I approached my new bank and applied for a credit card with them, whilst explaining the situation, would that aid my application? Don't really want to be paying interest on the card for any great length.

    Thanks in advance
  • I just realised that part of the issue may be that I have yet to change my electoral roll address.
