  • That's good news for you & good timing too by the looks of your signature.
    Congrats! :D
  • Just picked up the following from plebble.com - Anger as Wrap-It founder opens new wedding gift company

"BBC London reported that the founder and some members of staff of the failed, online wedding present company, Wrap-It, have launched a new company called Please & Thank You. Please & Thank You is also an online wedding gift company, based from the same premises as Wrap-It and using some of the same suppliers. This has upset couples, who never received their wedding presents after Wrap-It went into administration last summer.

New laws brought in by the current government mean companies can write-off debts by going into adminstration without having to go to court, which has speeded up and reduced the consequences of administration.

Please & Thank You were quick to point out that they are separate to Wrap-It, set up with new money, and that the founder lost his money and house. But the practice of writing-off debts and then re-emerging as a new company doing the same or similar business is likely to continue to cause distress to customers who lose out."

Our niece married in November 2007 but received virtually none of the wedding presents ordered through Wrapit. Sadly, many of the guests appear to have given up trying to get compensation from their card companies and the now not-so-newly-married couple have received very few of their wedding gifts, despite going through the embarrassment of contacting all those who had used WrapIt.
  • To be fair, they claim that they're completely distinct from WrapIt and are *not* a wedding-list service...

  • I take it all back -

Seems like the old guard from WrapIt have secured a lot of the old assets and used them to set up in business again.

Thanks for the warning - I won't be recommending this company either as I don't want my customers to be ripped off.
  • Just to make you aware of what is happening following the Wrapit Crash.

You may have seen in the news that Peter Gelardi - the man behind Wrapit - is starting up a new company along similar lines - pleaseandthankyou.co.uk

My daughter lost two thirds of her presents in Wrapit

I was so incensed by the new company that I set up a new site please and thankyou.org.uk (pleaseandthankyou all one word) to try to prevent future customers of pleaseandthankyou suffering the way my daughter did. There is also a protest song at on myspace.com / peternothankyou (again no spaces in the title)

This information is now starting to be picked up and on BBC Radio 5 live at 10.30am today 31st March a number of the brides hit by Wrapit (including my daughter will be confronting Peter Gelardi - I will be there with her)

If you are sympatheticic to their fight please visit the website

Anyone who was affected by Wrapit or is sympathetic towards those who suffered should visit the site
