Help! Does anyone know how Visa Debit users from France stand in relation to the Visa chargeback rights? If so does anyone know the french terminology they have to quote when they go to their bank? 50% of my guests were from France and I stand to lose about £3,500 if they can't claim back.0

Question: what about couples that did not close their list or closed their list but did not "order" before wrapit went into administration?? how to present this situation to a bank (if necessary)??0 -

I'm not entirely sure. There are a number of arguments around this being presented on www.wrapitcustomers.com and I'd suggest you pop over there and have a read, but generally speaking there are a few schools of thought:
1 - the agreement is started at point of purchase
2 - it begins at point of order
3 - there is no time limit as goods have not been supplied
4 - the agreement is with the couple not the guest as funds were transferred to the couple at point of purchase
There is a LOT of information on the other website and I really would advise you go over there and have a look. I cannot advise you one way or another, only to say try everything because nothing ventured, nothing gained. DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j

Hi,
My friend gets married tomorrow & had their wedding list with Wrapit too. I ordered her present in April & spent £50 on my Tesco Credit Card. I phoned Tesco on Tuesday when the news broke & they were very helpful. Said i would get all my money back & they would put the form in the post, so fingers crossed.
Good luck everyone
FeefeeLife's what you make it.:j0 -
Martin,
I have two questions that I have yet to find definitive answers to.
1- Re: the VISA chargeback scheme (which I understand is part of visa's worldwide regulations), what are the rules regarding time frame to make a claim? Most of my guests made purchases up to 1 year ago but I only closed my list last week (therefore delivery not expected for another 6-8 weeks). Does this depend on your particular bank or should a customer persist in starting the clock from date of "non-delivery"?
2- I have heard that Mastercard operates a similar chargeback scheme. Is there any truth to this?
MANY THANKS.0 -
This is Farepak all over again.
The government could have done something to change the law to stop this happening
but it didn't.
What a pity.
All it did was give a job to the main campaigner.
They have recieved nothing in terms of money or justice.
Robbery is still legal in the uk, all you need to do is set yourself up in business to be immune from prosecution. No balaclava or gun required, a posh accent helps though.0 -
Hi Martin, We too have been hit by the wrapit insolvency. We paid for a few items on our list with a visa debit card ourselves. These items didn't arrive so we contacted our bank (halifax) about chargeback but they said they couldn't offer it on debit cards. I then contacted Visa who said it does apply to debit cards but only at the discretion of the bank involved.
I'd appreciate your advice.
Also, of the items that did arrive, some were broken. Should we be covered for this by chargeback also?0 -
Hi Everybody,
Would really appreciate your help.
I have finally received a reply from my credit card provider saying they need the liquidation documentation. My friend got the letter from the adminstrators from Wrap It's website and I have just gone on to find the website is no longer working. Does anyone have a copy of the administrator's letter which they downloaded which they could share with me?
Thanks so much!0
