Locking Wheel Nuts

My Seat Leon alloys have the manufacturers locking wheel nuts fitted, as the car is parked on the road in not the nicest of areas I wonder how theft proof they are. Would McGard ones that you find in Halfords provide more security?
Thanks in advance

i very much doubt it,if they can get the factory ones off they will get the mcgard ones off aswell....work permit granted!0 -
Guess I better take the McGard's back to Halfords tomorrow for a refund, only found out about the Seat ones when I took the cover off.0

Put one of each on each wheel. This will deter most thievin gypo's0

yeah id use them as well as the orignal ones
still wont be theft proof , but its all you can do0 -
No locking nut is totally secure, but they will increase the time needed to remove the wheels and therefore you can hope that they'll go for easier pickings.Happy chappy0

also see if you can find somewhere original to hide the locking nut key...spare wheel and glove box is the first place theyd look if they break in
see if theres a little nook you can tuck them into maybe under the back seat or something0 -
It seems then that the Seat ones should offer the same protection as the McGard's. I've read that locking nuts are'nt tightened to the same torque as standard nuts so am reluctant to put more than 1 locking nut on each wheel.
Hopefully I'll be able to get a refund at Halfords. Does anyone have any experience of getting a refund from Halfords. Cost £32 & paid by CC. The assistant said I could take them back but can't find a refund policy on the website, nothing on the receipt.0 -

the longer it takes them to get them off, the more time you have to get your shot gun out...0
