If you are looking to save on cooking costs, I would recommend the Remoska from Lakeland. OK, not exactly cheap  but we've had it several weeks now and haven't used our leccy double oven once. It's definitely made a significant difference to our consumption figures.Call me Carmine....

Lily-Lu,
You need to put the actuall meter readings in, not the number of units you've used.
i.e if your meter reading last week was 4052, and you've used 10 units this week, then you need to enter your new reading of 4062.
Hope that makes sense, or I may have totally missed the point. This space is available to rent...0 -

I bought a Remoska yesterday from Lakeland, cooked chinese chicken thighs and potatoes in it tonight....absolutely lovely, no fat splattering all over my oven.
I am hoping to see a small difference in my electric next week.
There is a great thread on the Old Style board all about Remoskas.
I realise it could take me a while to re-coup the outlay, but I spent my birthday money on it...~Thanks Mum & Nan~
I had seriously thought about ebaying some stuff to save up for one, now that money can be used elsewhere.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no: 203.0 -

If you used your leccy oven with anything like the frequency we did before we got the Remoska, I think you may be surprised at the savings! Our Grand Remoska is rated at 650w (the standard is only 475w!) and our leccy oven 3kw. OK, as there is no thermostat on the Remoska it basically costs us (based on our current 10p per kwh charge on Click 5) 6.5p per hour to run.
The comparison calculation with the leccy oven is not quite as black and white as it appears as the oven does have a thermostat so won't be using the 3kw of power at all times but my 'guestimate' of leccy savings by using the Remoska would be 60%. That sort of savings is guaranteed to reduce your annual bill quite substantially (plus IMO things taste much nicer when cooked in the Remoska!).Call me Carmine....

I love a gadget and have looked at the Remoska and halogen ovens. I have a gas oven now and not sure whether it would be a money saver for me?
I use my oven three or four times a week and always fill it. School holidays when I'm off, it's used most days for bread but I do more making then (rather than buying biscuits etc.) and cook for the freezer.0 -

I suppose the only way to check this is to take a gas meter reading before you use your oven, note the length of time it was being used for, then take a further reading immediately after you turn it off (assuming the heating isn't on at the same time, of course!). Convert that figure into hourly cost and compare it to the Remoska's consumption (475w for the standard, 650w for the Grand). Of course, then there's the purchase cost to be taken into account (£90 standard, £110 Grand). We bought ours as a medium to long-term energy-saving measure but, for us, I genuinely believe we will at least get the money back within the first year, but only time will tell...Call me Carmine....
