in Water bills
Thats right , live on the Wirral , north west uk , 3 bedroomed terraced town house . Water rates £780 per year. I cry everytime I flush the loo or boil a kettle. Anybody else pay this much?
Having murder with all the relevant authorities , nobody wants to know.
Will probably end up with a water meter but just curious as to why mine is so much.

Simple answer - because it's based on the house's old "rateable value". This bears no relevance to the value of your house or the Council Tax band.
Get a meter put in, you have the option to go back to "rates" within the first 12 months if you don't like the metered bills.0 -

Moonrakerz - Does the option to go vack to "rates" apply to all water providers? I am with Severn Trent and we pay over £70 per month. We are a two adult two child (5 and 20 months) family and I am considering the switch.I want to be credit card and loan free by Christmas 20100 -

Yes you can.
If you have average consumption of water(for 4 people), on a meter with Severn Trent you will pay around £40 a month.
Without being extreme in savings, you can easily reduce that figure considerably.0
