ok, my daughter has lost another mobile phone. all we have done is blocked the sim. is there any way we can tell if the phone is being used even if the phone has someone elses sim in it.

this is the 2nd phone she has lost and at £40 a throw its getting beyond the joke.

anyway like i said is it possible by any means that we would know if the phone has been found and it is being used, even though we have blocked the sim.
All the big powers they've silenced me. So much for free speech and choice on this fundamental human right, and outing the liars.

    No, that's true.

The only alternative is to get a mobile phone that is capable of reporting themselves stolen. There are a few Windows Mobile applications that will send a message to a number (a relatives or friends) if an unrecognised SIM is installed into the phone. This can include the approximate location, copies of messages sent etc... so you can trace who is using the phone.

However, if you report a phone stolen they usually blacklist the IMEI number (unique hardware identifier that is difficult and illegal to change). This makes the handset unusable, so the phone then can't report itself stolen.

Yeah your best bet is to blacklist the phone as already stated using the IMEI number. you could also put a pin on the phone so everytime the sim is taken out of the phone you have to put the pin in for the phone to work...and added pain for the person illegally using your phone.

Not sure if all phones support this though.

    .

on samsung e900 they have a tracking facility like that, nothing happened with my sons phone though cos my son had also put passwords on, and the tracking only worked if people were able to use the phone which they weren't hence the password.. also i must say the phone was returned approx a week later and we were able to get the phone switched back on:j
