  • i am an @home Currier for dhl/hdnl i have heard that hdnl are asking people to take pay cuts as of the 1st of November i have worked for dhl for over three years now and have told them i am not willing to take a pay cut from .85p a parcel to .65p a parcel.
then i hear some people are getting up-to £1.00 per parcel are you still working at this price have you been told about the pay cuts??
i have never spoke with other curriers. i was not told the reason for the pay cuts so it seems to me hdnl are just being greedy and unrealistic of the price it costs to do these parcels. any in site from anyone would be much help
    thanks
  • Hi. Just had an interview. I'm a little concerned about changing my car insurance to include business use. In your experiences does this make a sizeable change to your premium? Any sort of increase makes the job less attractive. Cheers
  • I am puzzled that no-one mentions having to pick up parcels, only delivering them, is that done by a seperate person covering the same area? I am curious because I sometimes use courier companies. I live in a rural area so often take parcels into work for collection as I don't want a poorly paid courier to have to make a long trip to my house (5 miles from the nearest town where I work).

delivering parcels or take aways you need to have the proper insurance as if you get pulled you can be done for no insurance as you are useing your car/van/moped for buisness use
upon the hill there stood a cow
it must of gone as it aint aint there now
  • It sounds like slave labour to me!. I am glad I read all these as I was thinking of doing it but I have just changed my mind. I would rather look for something that pays a decent wage.
  • Well it all depends on the area you get i suppose?

I have just started doing it, only on about 30 a day at the moment but i am making money out of it. I did all 30 of me parcels today in 20 miles (i am doing 2 areas).

Its all about how you plan your route, i have my route done before the van even gets here with me parcels as the manifest is downloaded onto the pda before 9am with all the details!

Me parcels generally arrive at the same time so its not too bad either!

Does anyone have any further info for Passport Delivery jobs, unfortunately my google search proved unfruitful...

PM Would be appreciated, its the ideal job for my father..

Having done DHL along with my girlfriend sometime ago, its difficult, time consuming and very much under rewarding...

    £400 O/D Lloyds TSB
    £2650 Lloyds TSB Loan
    £5070 Black Horse Finance

I regged with "DHL" (although it's not really DHL) about 6 months ago, they called me today regarding an interview, I was told I would be paid 50-60p a parcel, and cover a 2 mile square radius.

I've done multidrop before for moben/dophin in central london, often long days and hard work, but 2 of us in the van so not so bad, had a laugh. Pay was poor as self employed, below min wage, but to do a job I enjoy it's not so bad.

If I'm getting 30-40 parcels a day (told this on phone), and cover a 2 mile square radius, I think I could cover this in 2-3 hours at most. I was thinking of asking an unemployed friend to jump in with me and he can get out and deliver while I drive. while he is out of the car delivering, I can get the next one ready. Same as I did as when I worked in London.

Regarding insurance, I dont think I'll bother changing it until I'm sure I can manage this job long term.

One thing that I will make sure of, is that my manager isnt an a-hole. can make all the difference when your day/week isnt going so well. Especially if they start piling on the parcels.
