DONT DO IT!!!!! speaking from experience both me and my boyfriend have worked for these..... you can get up to 90 drops a day, are expected to get them all done that day, its even worse at xmas. Your treated like muck, dont get any holiday pay or bonus's. YOur expected to start work from around 8am, receipt all parcels then load them into your car then go out delivering, getting signatures from everyione... or nieghbours then carding people who aarn't in then going back when they call you. your not allowed to leave in a safe place either. EVERYTHING got to be signed for even catalogues. sometimes we weren't finishing until 8pm at night. Your classed as self employed so hav to pay your own national insurance etc. And with the cost of fuel as it is it isnt worth it with stopping and starting all the time.

Nee any more info them PM me but its not a job i'd recommend

Thankyou Spaniel36, I will bear all that in mind!!! I have the interview tomorrow, but obviously it doesn't mean I have to take the job, and tbh it doesn't seem very worth it, and in the school hols I don't want my kids spending the day in the car!!
You never know though, they might jusy offer me something wonderful, altho I doubt it!! ;)

why waste your time going dhl tnt & parcelnet all advertising at moment you pay your own fuel, car insurance will be an issue for business use and they only pay about 65p a drop even if you have to go back 2/3 times
    DONT DO IT

I don't even think business use insurance will cover you, you need courier insuarnce, and goods in transit to cover the parcels in your car. If you managed 100 parcels a day you get £65, out of this you need to pay fuel, insurance, maintenance, depreciation and your tax/NI. Unless you live next door to the depot and the round is 10 miles long its not worth it.

i understood they deliver the parcels to you and your route is within 2-3 miles of your property.

Whilst not good money by any means if you have a small child and are just after a bit of extra spending money i think there is money to be made. Planning your route is the key to it

you can have them delivered to you but bear in mind that your waiting in for them to be delivered to you. Then you have to go through all your parcels with the milk run driver (the guy bringing the parcels to you) to make sure you've got what it says you've got on your manifest. There was onewoman and she was last to receive hers on the milk run so she wan't getting hers till 11am...god knows what time she finished delivering and your supposed to be available for delivering up to 9pm at night. Its definatly not good if you got small kids. I learnt the hard way. Its definatly NOT worth the money...too much hassle
  • Ive been thinking of trying to set myself up in this sort of business but wudnt have a clue how to go about it i was gunna try to do DHL at home just for the experience but going off some of the comments on here i would give it a miss i think i currently have a moped/scooter so thats how i would deliver for now but as soon as ive passed my test im gunna get myself a van and the the thing is with my main job i would only be able to do this on a part time basis i work a week of days 7am to 7pm (so that 1 week i wouldnt be able to do this job) then i get a week off so could deliver any parcels that week upto any time then i work a week of nights 7pm to 7am (this week i could probably do deliveries upto 12) then another week off so could deliver anytime again that week and so on.Does anybody work in this business on here who could give me some advice about how to go about things to start up for yourself or know any decent companies who would take you on a part-time basis and let you deliver by motorbike too for experience thanks in advance to anybody who can help me out
