I too have the same problem. Whilst logged-in all times are correct but as soon as I log-out all times are GMT+1 (ie still BST).

    My CP settings are:
    Time Zone is GMT
DST Correction Option is Automatically correct DST settings.

I agree with sra in that we assume it's not related to our settings. Whilst not logged-in the time being posted is still on BST therefore this is a forum problem I would have thought (maybe server time is wrong or something?). When we log-in the forum is automatically detecting its on BST and displays times at GMT as it should now be.

As long as the site works and you can read the posts what is the problem here?

A very minor issue that in the scheme of things is trivial beyond belief.

For what it's worth, I use Firefox and never have to log-in. I just close down and the next time I come online I'm still logged in.

Even if the time was an hour out when logged in, it's still a trivial matter as it makes no difference whatsoever to the content of the site, its threads or the posts of its users.

    trivial yes.

But the majority of people who use this site are guests (372 members and 655 guests right now)
who must find it weird that this post will read 11:20

    I second that sra.

Trivial yes but we are pointing out a possible problem which can only put down to the forum software or the servers time still thinking its BST and all posts are saved in BST (hence reason this is shown when not logged-in) but the settings in our Control Panel when logged-in tell it to automatically detect DST/BST changes and it's doing this and displaying a time of 1 hours less as it should be (GMT time).

The whole BST GMT issue is a pain, is BST really needed in todays society.

I know there is the annual argument that Scottish farmers need to time alteration to tend to their cattle etc etc.

So if Scotland want a different time zone let them, they have their own parliament let that have a time zone and have Wales and England stay GMT all year round.
my grandfather used to work on the railways in Ireland many years ago .
Northern Ireland had one time zone Southern Ireland had another .He had two watch's one for each time zone . The number of people who missed trains because off the different time .
A different time zone for Scotland ,dont even think about it .

I'm always signed in but my time was wrong by one hour checked settings and all was correct (ie auto detect).

Followed Sra's instructions in post #2 link #2 which fixed the problem.

What is the time displayed as when you are not logged-in?

Mine is displayed ok when logged-in but viewing when logged-out (ie viewing as a guest) the time is +1hr (ie BST still).
  • Seems like the GMT time is set to +1 when I log off, so that may affect quite a few people.

Time is ok for me until I log out - then it goes to GMT +1

Which I would assume means that it's not my preferences that are at fault

    Ditto :wall:
  • I got caught out while away this weekend when I logged on a relatives PC only to see that I last visited the site almost an hour after I actually left home. Panicked a bit as this site opens up as my home page so for a few minutes I assumed that someone must have used my computer after I had left home and it wasn't until I scrolled to the bottom of the page and saw the GMT+1 that I relaxed.
