Yes they do and the wedding means so much to you, that you need to keep saving for it and by saving you will know that you can save in future for anything you need.
I get fed up sometimes, I lapsed yesterday and bought the Abba gold and the Duffy CDs, and treated the children to a new football and new books.
If I stick to it 80% of the time and lapse 20% its a vast improvement on how I used to function, I think I thought I had the income of the beckhams at one point.I used to be at the beauty salon getting preened, bought new clothes every week, my children had wardrobes of clothes with labels on, we holidayed twice a year and shopped in M&S for food.We were so wasteful.
And we took so many consolidation loans, when I got our old bankstatements to claim charges you could actually track our spending habits and when we had loans, we spent like there was no tomorrow.I am ashamed of all that now.0 -
isnt it funny how we spend like no tomorrow but when you have head out of teh sand your like oh mygod how did i do that .... when i only have a mortgage il be greatful !! il never rely on someone elses money..... i inted tohave savings rather than loans or credit cards :P i say this but will it work in practice haha...... im fed up of skating coming up hill.... i dont like to openly say how much debt i have but people think we are joking when i say we are on a tight budget for example an hca said what on a stagg nurses wage you will be rolling in it i siad no 80% of my wage is debt lol !!! god sake !! now alot of teh debt we have is my fault i pressured oh to get a secured loan to clear our debts abd then we dug a hole again ive told him now he needs to be stronger !! goodness me ...... my mum and dad arent the best well mainly my dad sometimes i really get annoyed when i first found out we had to cancel the wedding i was so ashamed upset and i went to my mum to see if she could help get some equity released but keeo the same length onnortgage due to end in 2012 for them ... anyway my dad pipes up dont come with cap in hand asking for help !! i thought well thats just grand i used to be so kind with cash i gave my brother 200 quid just like that sohe could have something i took 600 pound off a credit card because i was called tight fisted for not helping but when i need them now they cant help me lol !! il remember that !! i cant make them see sense about things .... my dads like ooo debt ra ra you should have a life your stupid for cutting back so i say in justification i expect to be moving in 3 years i cant cary the debt with me !! my dad has no sense of cash he spends and is all for debt ... if your not helping him he doesnt wanna know !!! i mean he charged me for looking after my dog when he knew we had cash flow problems that is where my family and jons family differ they help out they dont charge you this is what upsets me at times grrrrrr anyway enough of that !!:PThe loans will pay themselves the credit cards need a kicking :money: DFW Long haulers supporter 132!!:T0

Hi Amy,
Do you pay all your debts at the beginning of the Month? That could be why it's so dull just now as you're just waiting for the next set of payments.
Personally I can't wait for payday so that I can make my first DMP payment and get the ball rolling. The days are passing reeeeaaaalllyy slowly just now as I'm in limbo.
Unfortunately you can't choose your family so don't let their attitudes get you down.
:beer:August 08 debt £58544.84, Paid £1668, Dec 08 Total £58236.48
DMP with CCCS £417 per month - Starting 01 Sept 08
Increased to £443 per month Jan 09.0 -
Ahh Amy your having a rough day arnt you.Dont worry about your familys attitude, when you are debt free you wont have to thank anyone for it because you will have done it all on your own.
I know what you mean about people thinking staff nurses should not be in debt, my brothers think that all the time, usually when they want to tap me for a loan.Let me tell you, when I opened up to a few close friends in work about my debt they were all in a similar or worse position than I am.
My parents dont know how much debt I have, my dad would go mad and my mum would worry sick.My son made me laugh he was looking for his top up card for his mobile (yes a 9yr old with own mobile) and he asked mum have you seen my credit card? That speaks volumes doesnt it my son speaks credit lingo.
Dont worry what anyone says or thinks, you and jon are the ones that matter, you only have to look at everyones stories on here to see debt is not confined to classes, proffessions, gender, or geographical location and there are so many DFW in the closet still and many more in denial, with the credit crunch I think we will be hearing more stories on here than ever before.0 -
