I've had this cover free as part of my house insurance for the past 2 years. When my central locking key for my car cracked open I phoned them up and they reimbursed the £150 it cost to get a new one, no hassles whatsoever. I've just changed my insurance to a new company and want this key cover back but don't think I can get it as a stand alone policy :(

Aye you can from these chaps

  • AVOID!
I agree totally with "ihateboomerangtag" above I am currently going through a claim with this company and they seem to try and avoid paying the money at all costs, every possible excuse they can come up with they do.
  • AVOID THIS COMPANY

They are a fraudulent company and would take your money and not provide any service. They are very rude and unpolite. I have put in a claim which falls under their terms condition. However they will look for any excuse not to pay out and leave you stranded. Beware do not use this company whatsoever unless you want to lose your money
  • We have been directed to this site in respect of comments raised regarding our Boomerang-Tag Key Insurance product; we thought it would be beneficial to respond to the concerns raised.

Our Key Insurance product is typically sold through an insurance broker and we ourselves issue the policy documentation and the key fob upon the sale of the policy. We can provide the policy directly if required.

You will typically be provided with £1500 of cover for your keys and if your keys are lost and subsequently found we do pay a reward of £10 to the finder. We can pay the reward in many ways but typically the fastest and most economical is a bank transfer and as such this is the most preferable option for everyone involved.

We sincerely apologise that some people have experienced issues when processing a claim, we pride ourselves on customer satisfaction and we do take all customer complaints and comments very seriously. We are unable to comment on specific cases without knowing the case details, as with all insurance policies there are terms and conditions that needs to be adhered to, we reject a small percentage of cases and of course in the event that anyone remains dissatisfied they have the right to contact the financial ombudsman service to have any decision reviewed.

Contacted Boomerang-Tag following a break in to my vehicle.
Daughters handbag containing her household/car keys taken as were my spare keys secreted within vehicle which had my spares my Daughters spare car key and house keys on, all stolen.
Contacted Boomerang who facilitated immediate lock change to daughters house as her driving licence detailing her property was also taken. Advise on the immobilisation of her vehicle, should thieves try a drive of.
Recovery of vehicle to Merc dealership, full key replacement including locks to merc and new ignition set.
The service appears relatively seamless with efficient staff giving great advice and service. (Even offered car hire) The claim, just shy of £1500.
This is one of the best insurances available, and I can't believe how inexpensive given the potential for lost, damaged & stolen keys.
    Highly recommend Boomerang-Tag

I previously had key cover with the AA gold membership. Driver Guardian also provide it. It was included when I bought their motor legal policy. Don't know what it's like to claim on either of these though!

Hmm, joins & posts praising Boomerang-Tag service shortly after B-T hears about the criticism here. Subsequently makes no more posts...

    You be the judge.
  • This is my experience of Boomerang...

    1. Spend 15 minutes on the phone whilst paying for the privilege

    2. Spend (what feels like an eternity) answering questions

    3. Then prepare to have the fine print explained to you, which is basically written to ensure that they never have to replace a single key.

A really poor service and a complete waste of money.
