Boomerang tag, key cover.

Does anyone have one of these and if so are they any good?

In the event of needing to call them out for lost or broken keys etc. do they already have an arrangement in place where they pay the locksmith or would I be expect to pay for it then reclaim?

If they are pay and claim then could anyone please recommend any companies offering this type cover but not on a pay and claim basis or are there any comparison sites which cover this type of insurance?

Thanks.

Hi there. Just did a search for this, as I have received one of these tags in the post yesterday and not sure why because I haven't requested one.

On the letter it says it's been sent on behalf of Vantage Insurance, but we don't have insurance with them.

  • We actually found a set of keys with a Boomerang tag the other day.

We phoned the company....and well, to cut a long story short, this was not a good experience.
They sent a letter saying that to collect the £10 reward, we would have to give them our bank details, sort code, account number and address.
    Is this O.K.?

I had key insurance with this company so when i lost my keys i emailed them through there own contact page as i didnt wish to pay 0870 rates. When i did not get a reply i emailed again and again only when my policy had run out did the finally reply telling me they had no record of any previous emails .I no regret not calling , but if you use a companies own conatct page you expect it to work.
  • I lost my tag from my key ring, after calling them some weeks ago I still have not received my replacement tag. called them today again, very bad experience with them I will not be renewing my policy next year.

I've no idea, but you if you were worried, you could give them details of an unused current account with nothing in it or details of a savings-only account which does not allow direct debits.

Your sort code and account number are on every cheque, so they're not exactly secret.

  • I had cover with boomerang, and never want to have dealings with them again. I told them i had lost my keys, and the last time i saw them i was checking in my boot. They said that the keys may be in the boot so my cover only covered £50. I got a friend to open the boot for me, the keys were not there so i called them back. The said cos he wasn't a registered locksmith that my claim was invalid and they would not pay for new keys. This is the second claim in one year they rejected. In my opinion they will do anything to avoid paying out. Why would anyone pay money to an insurance company that wont pay out.
  • I've had this cover free as part of my house insurance for the past 2 years. When my central locking key for my car cracked open I phoned them up and they reimbursed the £150 it cost to get a new one, no hassles whatsoever. I've just changed my insurance to a new company and want this key cover back but don't think I can get it as a stand alone policy :(
