Camping in the lakes

Hi,
me and 6 friends are planning a trip to the lakes this weekend (going up on Friday and back on Sunday). When I say planning I mean thats what we want to do. We've got the tent and gear sorted out (I borrowed a tent and sleeping bag and used my £20 vouchers from bview towards an inflatable bed - always money saving
) but we are struggling to find somewhere to stay? Most of the sites I find online say they don't take bookings and don't take groups of over 4 adults (or they expect over £100 deposit in case you make too much noise and distirb the other campers).
Are there any happy campers out there who can help?
Any advice greatfully appreciated

Think your problem is that groups of six adults will tend to have a few drinks and tend to be noisy, so a lot of campsites are wary of letting you stay. You could phone up individually - ie phone three times for two adults.
If you are planning on being noisey - and by that I don't mean to be rude, we for instance never go to caravan and camping club sites as they have a strict no noise after 10.30 policy - if you don't keep quiet your off the next day!
we recently went to lakeland at flookburgh (haven site). Although i have stayed in more scenic campsites there was a swimming pool and pub, shop etc on site.0 -
Thanks for your reply Lynne, we are planning on being very quiet - we just want to have a couple of quiet days walking in the lakes. It looks like the only option we have is not to disclose that we are together and book independently which I really don't like the idea of as it hints of deception to me which doesn't sit very comfortably.
I had a look at the haven sites and they are quite expensive and offer much more than we need - we really just want a camp site with basic facilities as a base to go walking.
I've had a few campsites suggest that I wait until after the summer holidays when they will take groups of adults again! Not the answer I was looking for.
Surely in the vast Lake district there is some little patch of land for me and my friends?Phone bill saving £690, one poll £8.25, bview £20 amazon voucher and £10 threshers voucher, cycle to work scheme £240 (savings since 25th June on travel costs), valued opinions £4.75, Cashback rewards £28.64. My sister in law had a camping party for her 40th birthday - not quite in the lakes proper, but a lovely small site run by a local farmer on the side of a very scenic lake. There was a mixture of couples and families with kids, and no-one seemed to mind 20 odd people turning up. We paid on arrival. I can't remember the name of the place, but if you get stuck let me know and I'll email him for the details.
Edit - this is the village http://www.pooleybridge.com/
Go to weblinks, then the local campsites link, and there are 5.
I'm not sure which site it was we stayed at, but I think it was gillside. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
There are loads of sites in the Lakes that will take groups of adults -
a couple out from Pooley Bridge (Ullswater) the site by the lake takes larger groups and the site further away from the lake takes groups but is quieter.
There's a site just outside Hawkshead that takes groups and a couple by Coniston and one in the Langdales.
I think the site in Keswick at the Rugby club takes groups.
There's a small one at Ashness Bridge that's basic but quiet - just a farmers field with a toilet block.
Sykeside by Brotherswater will take groups - its right by the pub (so best to camp further down the field).
The campsite at Wasdale Head (good for climbing Scafell) takes groups.
Think that most of the Lakes covered........have a good time.0 -
the only site I know does not take groups of same sex due to noise worries as it is a working farm, but do enjoy the trip it is a beautiful part of the countryI am responsible me, myself and I alone I am not the keeper others thoughts and words.0

You should have no problems with sites such as Wasdale and Dungeon Ghyll. They're used to groups of guys and bikers and both locations have great pubs.0 -

Wow! Loads of info thanks so much - I have already managed to find the Pooley Bridge campsites and they are happy for me to make a booking. You wouldn't know which one in the Langdales takes groups would you?
I've been on ukcamping to try and find the best onebut there are so many reviews for each one its hard to make a choice.

Hiya, Here is a highly recommended campsite that has the added advantage of allowing fires:

And like posters before me, I'd suggest making a few seperate bookings....0
