Abbey Move Money down again 5.08.08

Internet Banking. Abbey really are the pits. Why cannot they tell you at the start a service is down? No! You have to go through the operation press confirm and they then come up with " error This service is not currently available"
I tried all yesterday morning telephoned them and was told the service was down but would be OK at 2pm. It was not and in a call made that evening I was told it would be available today. It is still not available!

This facility has now been down for two days. I telephoned Abbey and they said after taking the details and verifying the account that they would make the transfer. Seven hours later nothing done. I telephoned again but the Abbey representative had such a strong UK type accent I could not stand the strain of trying to understand her and had to terminate the call.0

Would be grateful if you can confirm that used the facility to move money from e-saver account to current account as this is what I cannot do.
Abbey agree that this facility is not working so something does not make sense.0 -
Sorry too old to understand "NI" and probably too deaf to differentiate between such local accents as Geordie, Liverpool, Manchester, Glasgow etc.
Previous help line advisers spoke clearly but I just could not get round what this adviser was saying.0 -
Probably a Liverpool or Glasgow office. Those are the main two I know of.
When they give a timescale of when things should be back up and running, the customer service agents are given a time and it's a case of crossing fingers, so don't be too harsh on them as they are only acting on information management have told them. Doesn't excuse the inconvenience though I accept.0 -

I get this 10x per day, wish I could terminate the call!!!!
It's amusing when people get through to one of my colleagues who have a foreign accent and demand to be put through to someone in England....Kavanne
Nuns! Nuns! Reverse!

As at 10am 6th August I am still not able to transfer from e-banking to current account.
No response from Abbey to several e-mails sent or money that was said they would transfer and did not.
Is it as bad to work there as being a customer?0 -
At 12.15 received an e.mail from Abbey which apart from the waffle about customer concern stated
These difficulties should now been resolved and you should be able to gain access.
Only one problem I cannot situation is still the same!0 -
Yesterday in a further telepnone call to Abbey I asked to speak to the person who had sent the e-mail saying that the system was now working. "Never heard of her how can I help" was the reply. Repeated the whole saga and held on while the customer service chap investigated. On return I was told that they were moving customers on to the new system in batches and it it would be 3 to 5 days before I could move money. It seems quite remarkable that the Management at Abbey think so little of their customers that they do not think fit to advise them of what is going to happen and that the system could be down for over a week. It would not take me 3 to 5 days to move my account elsewhere!
What compensation would be fair for the inconvenience and frustration Abbey have caused me in this matter?0
