Hi all
Am currently getting both phone and internet through Tiscali, paying approx £25ish for broadband and phone package, and then £20 per month through BT for line rental  Been with them for about a year and a half.
Now, when I was at my old house I had a fantastic deal with ntl, but unfortunately couldn't get ntl where I am now when I moved a while back. So ended up with Tiscali, and am reviewing my finances, and am very aware that I could get a much better deal. So phoned up Tiscali earlier on, explained I wanted to know what they could offer me, and they said
1. The Weekend call package, free line rental and free weekend calls
Starts £18.23 for first three months then £23.23 for 9 months (12 month contract.)
2. The Anytime call package, free line rental and anytime calls
Starts £23.23 for first three months then £28.23 for 9 months (again 12 month contract.)
Points of note: I hardly use the phone but want to keep a land line for the odd calls I *do* have to make, which seem to be daytime ones.
I can only get up to 2meg on my line, it doesn't support anything faster. I've been looking for other prices but it's starting to scramble my head now lol!
The prices above would obviously save me a clear £20 per month (always nice!) but is there still room for improvement being as I'm only after a speed of 2meg?
Any feedback welcomed!

avoid tiscali.....
I've been reading on here what people think of Tiscali lol! Has certainly made me think!
To be honest, in the time I've been with them, I haven't had any trouble at all. I thought with them being my provider right now, I'd check with them to see what they can offer as well as looking elsewhere. I've been browsing but no decision yet!Dealing with my debts!Currently overpaying Virgin cc -balance Jan 2010 @ 1985.65Now @ 703.63

BT Line Rental is only £10.50p a month if you take online billing.
See post 49 in this thread http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1062787&page=3 about the problems people face when they move their line rental to tiscali.0 -

Hi all
Am currently getting both phone and internet through Tiscali, paying approx £25ish for broadband and phone package,
You are obviously paying Tiscali far too much! Why do you have a phone package with Tiscali if you hardly ever use the phone?
and then £20 per month through BT for line rental  Been with them for about a year and a half.
BT line rental is £10.50 per month and you could have free evening and weekend calls included for no cost.
Now, when I was at my old house I had a fantastic deal with ntl, but unfortunately couldn't get ntl where I am now when I moved a while back. So ended up with Tiscali, and am reviewing my finances, and am very aware that I could get a much better deal. 2. The Anytime call package, free line rental and anytime callsStarts £23.23 for first three months then £28.23 for 9 months (again 12 month contract.)
Points of note: I hardly use the phone but want to keep a land line for the odd calls I *do* have to make, which seem to be daytime ones.
So leave Tiscali and get a better provider elsewhere. If you only make the odd call, those call packages will cost you money every month.
I can only get up to 2meg on my line, it doesn't support anything faster. I've been looking for other prices but it's starting to scramble my head now lol!
Have you looked here to see exactly what you can get?
The prices above would obviously save me a clear £20 per month (always nice!) but is there still room for improvement being as I'm only after a speed of 2meg?

Ditch Tiscali:doh: Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
Cheers for that link, hadn't seen that site before. Doesn't look like I can get an awful lot where I am.
It says:
"However, there is another service on your phone line (e.g. ADSL, LLU, DACS, etc) that would prevent you from ordering a new ADSL connection..."
I'm not the most technical of people (lol!) but what exactly does this mean?Dealing with my debts!Currently overpaying Virgin cc -balance Jan 2010 @ 1985.65Now @ 703.63

It simply means that you already have ADSL provisioned on your line at present. To change ISP you request a MAC from Tiscali. Are there any LLU providers shown? Even if there are not, there are hundreds of ISP's that you could choose on a BT line. e.g. some listed here where you will see Tiscali well down the list. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
tiscali are a pain in the backside at times, but once your up and running its good and cheap!
the prices you pay now are terrible. WHy is your bt line rental so much? it should be 10.50!
Tiscali biggest bundle is £20 (or less on promotion) for TV package, 8mg broadband, phone line rental + free calls!0 -
I recently changed over to tiscali as they were offering me Phone Calls , Broadband and Free Line Rental so i did not have to pay BT anything all for £19.99 although the 1st 3 months were at a low cost of £14.99.
I used a reseller to get the deal rather than going direct

i hope this helps .. ive had no troubles myself only that sky cut me off a day before they were ment to.
