Is anyone else "moving on" from their Ebay days?

We bit for and won a car on ebay back in April for 5k. the seller spun us a line about moving to work in spain and needing to get rid of the car.we told him that we wouldnt trade outside of ebay,so he sent us a very cleverly done Vehicle Protection Programme supposedly set up by ebay.My husband
supidly went to t he bank and transferred the money to a bank in spain, but I had a bad feeling about the whole thing and emailed ebay to ask to verify VPP asap,as at that point I could've stopped the transfer. They took 7 days to get back to me to tell me it was a scam,by which time it was too late.I was fuming! I had sent copies of the emails but they just didnt care and the bank couldnt recall the money.
The profits ebay make are phenomenal, but they have no telephone support and take ages to get back to you by email. But try and sell a fake Louis Vuitton bag and they soon catch you! (like my daughter did) and despite their recent fine for selling fake goods, they are still on there. They are a law unto themselves because they have no real competition,so the only thing to do is to boycott them.(just my opinion, sorry to you genuine traders)
Sorry for the rant,I feel much better now!:mad:0 -
I have to say that after selling on ebay for 5 years, 4 as a power seller, the last couple of months have been excellent with sales back to the heyday days of 2006. The only slight downfall has been non payers due to the feedback changes some people think they can just bid and buy now on lots of items and just pay for the cheapest but overall buyer confidence is better now.0

Ebay has become over-regulated.
I prefer it when it was like the Wild West.

I got booted off ebay thanks to someone who did not pay for their item.
Ebay still owe me money.
I chased them last week.
Along with the usual cut and pasted reply:
"While future emails to us will be read, we may not reply."
The above shows the utter contempt ebay hold for their customers.
I don't expect to recieve my refund."Love you Dave Brooker! x"

I'm sorry but this is such an obvious scam I honestly can't see how you can blame ebay for it, I do have sympathy when people are stung on ebay and yes it happens, but not taking basic precautions is not a good idea even off ebay. If you had done any research at all you would have turned this scam up on a google search. Even doing the ebay tutorials or reading the emails that ebay send would have prevented you from proceeding with this.
I don't understand how you can have a bad feeling about something yet still go ahead..and then blame someone else.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. As another poster has already said things are slow on ebay in the summer. However there is a half price listing day this Thursday so you might want to try a few items then , but don't go for the low price starts as with fewer bidders many things may well go on the first bid.
Alternatively things tend to pick up in September and you could wait till then.Ebay has become over-regulated.

I know what you mean sometimes. However there are bidders who need to be protected from themselves and by making ebay more of a nanny state they have taken half the fun out of it!I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I've given up selling on Ebay. I strongly disagree with the changes in feedback, the charges are getting stupid and they are pretty much useless when things go wrong. I just got fed up with it all. I just charity shop things now.0

Ebay has dug its own grave and good sellers are deserting it in droves. I've been selling since 2001. In that time I've generated (conservative estimate) about £150,000 - £200,000 for ebay/paypal in fees. In all that time I have only received 1 piece of negative feedback (from a nutter). So, I've been a good seller and generated lots of income for ebay/paypal. In return, they've treated me with nothing but contempt. I now only do about 20% of my business with ebay, whereas they used to have 100%. Stuff 'em. Move on, there are viable alternatives.0
