Is anyone else "moving on" from their Ebay days?

I used Ebay a lot about 3 years ago. I was even a powerseller for a month(due to an abnormal sales blip when I sold a load of car parts).
I pretty much didn't sell anything over the last year. I recently sold a load of excess DIY supplies and then bought some boxes of car parts from a motor factors. I've been doing quite well in a low-key manner.

I'm rather annoyed tonight that a buyer who missed my first invoice then requested and paid for a second invoice where I got the postage wrong. I actually charged more than the postage total, rather than less like I claimed.
The buyer has just left me double neutral feedback.

Why didn't he contact me? Thinking about it, why didn't he query the second invoice.

I'm rather annoyed TBH, and feel that maybe I should just move on.

Sorry to hear of your ebay probs.

As a teacher and therefore on holiday, I was hoping to blast ebay with loads of items over the hols but having returned to this after a quiet year of selling, I am very concerned about the changes and the effect on sellers.

So far, I haven't decided whether to risk ebay again but not sure of other possible routes for selling?
If only I could stop finding good bargains on this site, I would save a fortune! :rotfl:

TBH, 99% of buyers/sellers are great and I think business can continue as normal if you're prepared to suffer a few minor problems.

I did take the decision to cut back and give up my powerseller status, however it was really due to the pricing in proportion and not the ebay changes for me. When all the new changes came in this year I did have a think as I could have gone either way, either build up again to 100 + items a month or discontinue with some of the lines that were causing me the most problems and ignore the possible lower FVFs I would have got by regaining my PS status. I decided to stick at a lower level of sales, around 50-70 a month and get more out of the home work instead.

I did try both Ebid and Tazbar and spent a while quite aggressively trying to market myself on them, but didn't make a single sale, so have given up with them entirely, I earn more money outside the house per hour than I did on weeks worth of trying ebid.

ive stopped bothering personally. taking it all down the charity shop even tho there are some great bits there. just cant be bothered with all that effort for such little reward. all that hassle of going to the post office (when we dont even have a post office nearby).

its just not worth it. have kept a few bits and might do a car boot but not sure i can even be bothered to do that either. might just get shut of the lot.

I rarely bother with eBay. I have my own website now. Ebay would be a good way to promote my own business/site but the fees are just too high and people expect items to be cheap than I can buy them wholesale.

ive also cut back .. tbh im getting sick and tired of ebay and the way they treat us sellers. I've traded on there for around 3 years and been a power seller for 2 years.. I have never ripped anyone off and always provided good service and still ebay try and further shaft us with more stupid rules and fees. So now with the fees etc,... its not worth the hastle. So now i'm getting rid of my remaining stock and getting involved with other online ventures outside of ebay... stuff em I say...

Like most others in this thread, I'm fed up with ebay too.

I got stung yesterday by their "you MUST use paypal" policy change and they cancelled all my auctions.

Used to be a great site, but now it's going downhill very quickly, for me anyways.

    crikey !

i havent listed anything on ebay for a while but was thinking i could be doing a whole lot soon what with moving to a smaller house and had already set up quite a few items using their turbo lister tool

i havent seen anything about this policy change when just logging on to browse, is it made clear to you when you go to list something, either manually or with their turbolist tool do you know ?

    thanks

The summer months are always pretty cack for sales - I'm not trading much at the moment but hope to start up again come September.

From sometime this month eBay are sensibly changing the feedback policy so that neutrals do not affect the feedback percentage.

fnc63 - as a previous TurboLister user I can reccommend Auctiva.com for an alternative.

I've had a lot less problems with data being lost and best of all the schedule tool is free!
