I saw in Allerton Road (Liverpool) today Fur Real pandas and chimps £19.99 each. I know the chimps were reduced to £14.99 in Argos but only for this week so would maybe help out someone who missed that offer... or who wanted a different animal?

I don't know about anyone else but I think Home Bargains is nowhere near as good as they were a couple of years ago. Maybe it's just me and the things I am looking for they don't have? But guaranteed every year I would get quite a few good Christmas presents in there but this year nothing and I mean NOTHING! My mum who lives in London doesn't have a Home Bargains near her and she always looks forward to shopping here just for HB, she even commented on how bad it is this year. Like I say maybe it's just me, anyone else notice a difference?

Nearly all the presents we've bought for the wee one have been from HB, the others have been from Mothercare, taking advantage of their price match (+ a tenner voucher where possible).

I wouldn't say it's worse than it used to be.
They say it's genetic, they say he can't help it, they say you can catch it - but sometimes you're born with it

It sounds like your children are quite young because you mention toys from Mothercare? I have been shopping in HB for 8 years and I definitely notice a difference this year.

My boys are 8 and 7 now, into very specific toys like WWE, Star Wars and Dr Who. Up until they were about 5 I could get loads in HB but not this year, that's why I said in my post it may just be me because I am looking for specific things. They used to be into Pirates of the Carribean, HB stocked a lot of this at one time, even Dr Who and the odd Star Wars toy you could pick up. If my children were younger I probably could still buy a few things which would interest them.

I really do think there choice is very limited but it is that kind of shop so I understand you wont get things like Lego Star Wars or Lego City items. I heard they relied on a lot of old stock from Woolworths, this would explain a decline in their stock with Woolworths no longer being one of their providers.

Not only do I think their stock is limited but the prices on toys seems to be more expensive by a few ££s

Lots of new toys in Northampton today. Wasn't looking specifically, but there were a few things that caught my eye:

Star Wars Clone wars dressing up outfit - 6.99
Playmobile Pirate carry chest - 15.99
    Playmobile truck - 19.99 (I think)
Also noticed lots of crayola branded product down the art/craft aisle but didn't stop up look.

The place was a hive of activity with shelf stackers everywhere, so think things are ramping up for Xmas
    Now proud Mumto3 :j
  • In my local the other day they had cleared a lot of the toy shelf. It looked as though they were going to fill it with new stock but I haven't had a chance to go back in yet.

No doubt when I go back it will all have gone , lol

I found some bottles of Bayliss & Harding shower and bath gel for just 79p yesterday! I thought this was pretty good considering debs are selling boxes of four for £20 at mo. I don't know if it was just bad placing in our store but they were mixed in with like the copy versions that were the same price.

Have to agree on the HBs not being as good as a few years ago thing, they have a lot more permenant lines now rather then end of lines where as once it was more the other way.
