  • Went to buy more Lindemans Sydney Cove Chardonnay, half price at £3.99 per bottle, on offer 3 for £10 until 25/11/08. Today, 22/11, was £4.99 per bottle, with 25% discount on 6 bottles. There were no signs of the 3 for £10 wines. Is it worth complaining to HO? In effect, because I bought 12 bottles, I have paid £10 more.

Had Peroni lager advertised on shelf edge as £4.49 per pack of 4 x 330cl, or 2 packs for £5.00 So, ever the frugal one (with a taste for Peroni) I bought 2 packs. Charged at £8.00 saving 98p. Complained at customer services and after much to-ing and fro-ing, they refunded double the difference - £6.00! By my reckoning thats 8 beers for £2.00!! Such a bargain!!

Phoned CS today,as 3 for £10 offer was back on today until tomorrow 25/11. Can Tesco do this, take an offer off when it should have run till tomorrow as stated on tickets? Note on other forums that 3 for £10 plus 25% discount was given at some Tesco stores.

They can pull deals whenever they like and if they leave those particular SEL's up, all the better - no arguments on OOD's. The 3 for £10 offer still applied in the Expresses over the weekend and certainly in the 2 I went in, the 25% discount kicked in on the original price, so 6 bottles cost me a little over £2 a bottle.

I think you will find that they would say that the date, whilst visible to the customer, is for staff information rather than the customer.
As the poster above said, they can, and do pull offers whenever they like and are able to do so, however sneaky it looks to you and i.
  • There seem to be a lot of drinks offers on at the moment all with differing end dates. I looked through and some had out of date SELs (mostly the top shelf ones) but nothing on approaching half price that I would have drunk. A few whiskies and a bourbon with £5 off so if you were going to buy it anyway...

Yep, they'll tell you the date is for staff use. That is, unless you have been overcharged...in which case it is the customers responisbility to check the offer date :rotfl:

Spotted Indiana Jones whip on out of date label 23/11.. £19.96 down to £14.96..

Scanned higher, but I left it as feeling too poorly to be having confrontation at CS..
  • Found Mr. Brain's 2 Pork Faggots 242g for 37 pence in my local Express store on a yellow 'half price' SEL so stocked up :)

Went to my local Extra store saw the yellow SEL got a few more packs only to get home and find out I was charged 99 pence :(

Went back to complain, luckily I looked in the freezer section first, bigger stores (and online) have only reduced them to 79 pence

Couldn't be bothered with the pennies DTD, but 40 pence DTD ;)
