Hang on a minute.... any 'normal' person takes goods off the shelf and either carries it to the till or puts it in a basket with other stuff. Surely you would notice if a packet was damaged and put it back if it was and swap for one that isn't. I will always opt for goods that are sealed, and even if a box or packet has opened from people handling them, as can quite often happen, I would just put it back and find one that is sealed.

I think people forget that most 'shops' have warehouses/back rooms where goods are stored and they are not exempt from having rodents and pests around. I once worked in an office and that had the odd visitor, attracted by snacks kept in drawers, etc.

    Honestly, scaremongering at it's best!

Have to agree here. No matter what supermarket you go to, they all have Rentokill on standby because they ALL have rodent issues. I have seen rats stuck to mats in Netto to Sainsbury's. They are all the same.

However, you really should give them to a member of staff if you see something open so they can dispose of them. They have a hard time for very little wage as it is.
I am firmly across the line. I won't impose my values on you if you keep away from mine.

I appreciate you should probably inform staff if there are defective goods yet many of these shops (like many others at the moment) tend to be really busy so usually difficult to summon amember of staff.

I was more poitning out that people don't shop blind, and you don't 'just' take goods home and then 'realise' that they are half chewed and the bag is spilling all over. Usually you notice sometime between taking it off the shelf and getting to the till and it is more practical to swap an item than get all the way home and moan about it having been gnawed by a rodent.

In the Waltham Cross branch I got some really nice sally hansan nail varnish pens, which are really super quick drying.

Some decent Nair wax strips- yeh I'm hairy haha.

A couple of really cute M&M chocolate smelling candles, which I'm going to save as stocking fillers.

Lots of weight watches food, that's still in Tescos etc for way more £££s

Also some hello kitty handwash that looks quirky/cute in the bathroom

Also best find this week was a hardback of "A vision of reason" about Richey Edwards from the Manic Street Preachers. RRP £18.99, bargain for £1

If you don't mind travelling the Waltham Cross branch is good, as it's quite big but in a tiny tiny town. x

    Thanks!
Hope I can find that in Darlo or Durham.
Both my son and myself are Manics fans. My son is on the Millennium Stadium opening concert video and I went to see them up here (NE) on the first tour after Richey's disappearance. DS got a chunk of Nicky's bass when he wrecked it and threw it into the audience.
My niece hosted James, Sean and Nicky at a rugby international in Cardiff about ten years ago (she is a manager for BT.) James asked her out, but she was spoken for.

....If it's in the Daily Mail, I take it with a pinch of salt. The writers can barely spell or construct a sentence, do sensationalist stories that often don't match the headline, AND post stories of an average woman who professes to be Narcissus (who is actually a wannabe writer/journalist trying to gain notoriety with the aim of becoming a Liz Jones. Her writing style is all about using a stick to poke at the readers, causing "outrage"). Sadly, it seemed to work.

The next day they gleefully boasted about their soaring internet "hits" and the responses Samantha Brick provoked, from celebs, internet sites, blah blah...that was the intention!

I don't doubt underhand practices do happen with some retailers, but who buys damaged or open packets anyway? Particularly food.
