Hi everyone I havent been on here for a good few days, Ive had a pretty crappy time of late, my darling dad lost his battle with a long illness on saturday morning. Even though he was poorly it was still a massive shock how quickly it happened, but I was with him all the way through and it was very peaceful. Anyway im in a bit of a limbo at the minute and dont really know what to do. I already lost my mam to cancer just over 9 years ago, and im only 32. So just to take my mind of things Im catching up on the last 30 pages or so ive missed. It really is great just to think about something else for a little while, you all make me smile with your little jokes and cute pics, so keep up the good work ladies your helping me without even knowing it. lol x

Apologies for being non boots related but I wanted you to know that you are cheering me up!

Oh Lupyloo, my heart goes out to you! My condolences on your sad loss and if you need anything, want to chat, PM me. It is a shock, even if you are expecting it, because we NEVER want to lose our loved ones.

I can be found on MSN sometimes too, not today as out, but you can always check if you want boring banter about my DS and what he is upto now:D .

have you checked out Facebook and Here Come The Girls?

Has anyone else bought the childproof locks and corner guards from Boots? Did you find that your DC was pulling the corner guards off the tables, and pulling the toilet lock off the toilet?

Just wondering if the glue is not that strong, or DS is TOO strong. We have only had items on for a week, and the table has no corners left, and the toilet lid is down, but he pulls on the lock as he has pulled it off the toilet. Also, now crawling and Standing, so stands at toilet trying to lift lid up.

If you saw my flat, you would understand why DS gets where he does, the doors aren't secure, so he can open all except Shower room! I can shut inner door of living room to toilet, but he has worked out by banging it hard enough, it will open inward and he pulls it open, and crawls off to the toilet. The toilet door opens inwards, and doesn't latch, so you cannot shut it and it stays shut. DS just pushes it open!
I found the only thing that worked in the kitchen was a safety gate on the door ! And this was the only one I ever found that he couldn't open. (And I've tried about 6 different types)!!! http://www.amazon.co.uk/Kiddiproof-Sentinel-Child-Safety-Gate/dp/B000FKMFUS. With the video/DVD I made my own 'guard' out of tape and clear plastic which looked like a hideous box but stopped him puting jam sandwiches in it.:D

Yes that is the third one, the Marylebone one, as it just around the corner really.

Thank you for the advice. I am like you, don't believe in foolproofing whole house, prefer to teach DS no, means no, and he doesn't get his own way. But DH was worried about him banging his eye on table, hence corners, but no point now! He pulls them off! Toilet lock was because friend said we should get one to stop things being chucked down there, but I am trying to teach DS when I say no, I mean no.

I praise him when he does something good and the big lovely smile on his face is worth praising him everytime he listens to me or does something like standing up. He gets very proud of himself when I praise him or he achieves something.

I believe in letting DS explore and understand his environment, obviously things like oven, knives are a big no-no, but think it is good for him to have some freedom. And yes he does get bored of doing same things when I am not saying no.

    Right logging off right now!

Crickey, missed that too lupyloo, I sometimes read backwards

I'm sorry too to hear of your loss, i'm nearly 32 and can not imagine loosing my parents at this age, whether expected or sudden. I did however loose my fiancee a few years back so know the pain, although i'm sure the loss of parents is far greater.

There really is nothing any of us can say that will ease your pain, but i'm sure it is safe to say our thoughts are with you. I'm sure our ramblings will distract you somewhat, but once you have caught up on the thread, go get a hug off of your little person as I've found that is the most emotionally healing thing you can have and gets you through the particulary bad moments

    :kisses3:
  • sorry to hear that lupyloo, if theres anything we can do let us know xx

I should sell them on ebay (not). The other thing I made was an elastic contraption which clipped his bottle to the pram on a piece of elastic. I'm thinking about going on Dragon's Den with it. :rotfl:
I'm debating whether to get this out of distance child monitor at the moment.... http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1088241&highlight=grabitnow

:rotfl: Can I do a pre-order? DS drinks then chucks(normally quite violently onto a passing persons varicose veins:rolleyes: ).

Was wondering about that too...not sure if it would just get chucked too:rolleyes:
