hot.chick - poor DH!!! Wish mine would have that thought - he'd just dump it in regardless! I agree that posting on here makes you do it - I was like that last night!

I won't get home until about 8ish tonight so not much planned to do - think I will clean the bathroom.

I have such a problem getting into a routine with house work, me and DH both work shifts so we never have a routine! I hoping that once my house actually gets clean and tidy it should be easier to keep that way!

    Hi all,

Thought I would join in as a beginner as I haven't really got into a routine yet.

Well I have been shining my sink religiously and tomorrow DF has promised me we will get a separate washing up bowl, so I am going to leave that by the sink in case our lodger wants to soak anything (He refuses to use the dishwasher - god knows why!!) and hopefully it will leave the sink cleaner as at the moment he keeps ignoring my pleas to leave it as it is, which means I have to stick my hand into horrible cols greasy water (Yuck yuck YUCK!) to empty it and fill the dishwasher up with his dirty plates etc.

I'm not doing very well with the babysteps on the website, I haven't bothered with most of them however I am making sure I shower as soon as I get up (ie without thinking about it!) and get dressed every day. Putting out clothes before I go to bed will have to wait until I get around to sorting the bedroom! Clothes are a bit of a nightmare at the moment anyway as bump has had a growth spurt and I only have about 4 tops and 2 pairs of trousers which fit me now. I don't want to spend money on clothes I will only wear for a few weeks but might have a bit of a charity shop/Matalan/Tescos crawl at the weekend.

Had the midwife here yesterday for my routine appointment. When DF left for work he said "Oh, don't forget to tidy up before the midwife comes" which I thought wouldn't take long... but came downstairs to a very untidy living room and a bomb site of a kitchen. I took about 45 minutes to tidy the kitchen up and have something to eat before my mum arrived, she helped me with the living room and then went to give the bathroom a wipe down. The living room looks great now so hopefully we can keep it looking lovely. It is all cluttered at the moment because DF is a computer technician and there are 2 computers on the floor, one of which is broken so have no idea how long it will be here!

Anyway have sort of got my kitchen in a nice routine now, so all I have to do is empty the dishwasher, fill it up with whatever is lying around and wipe down the surfaces. Since I shined my sink with the bleach method it doesn't seem to cling to all the grease as it used to so all it ever needs is a quick swish & swipe, occasionally with stardrops but usually just water. I wipe down the cooker when it looks dirty! :rotfl: Am hoping to get a nice plant or some decorative pots for the windowsill in there now it is all nice and tidy.

    what is a dust puppy??

It is a thing that has a sponge middle with an elastic 'loop' across the back which you push your hand through. The front has small 'tails' of microfibre stuff. Like a hedgehog but instead of spikes small tails of microfibre stuff.

I put it on my hand and run the 'tails' across my dusty surfaces and the dust is trapped. It washes easily and dries well.

    I got it from tesco's.

Brilliant for all surfaces and windows.

    Morning peeps!

Well due to the CRAP weather we didn't do any of the skip filling that we wanted to!

But to compensate I cleaned out the freezer - chucked a load of unidentifiable stuff from the dark ages! Hate throwing food out - but wasn't taking the risk on eating any of it!!! And had to make room for all of the freezer stuff I brought with my Waitrose discount.

I swept the floors, did the dishwasher duties, cleaned the bathroom, did a load of washing.

Ummm.... did the bins - twice!

Oh yeah... wiped down the leather sofa......

    think that was about it!

Oh and I made the beds this moring aswell....

    How did everyone else do???

  • Morning all.

Note to the newbies: If you haven't yet, have a look at the first page of the main weekly flylady thread. Don't worry about doing any tasks, just read through them. My bathroom is filthy though and I intend to tackle it at some point! The kitchen definitely feels under control now, and we have got the washing up bowl (so the lodger can use that to soak things in if he must insist on it) so after today I am hoping my sink will always be shiny and grease free.

So... bathroom today... possibly tomorrow (I haven't even looked in the kitchen yet!) And I need to sort out baby related benefits this week - I am banging my head against a brick wall with this one so will pop over to the benefits board I think.

Hope you are all well, anyway I'm going to have my breakfast and a cup of tea (yes I know, shush, blame the baby!!)

  • Hi there  I can fully endorse the Flylady thread, too :j

As this thread has now become so like the Weekly Flylady thread, I'm going to close it and suggets that anyone who wants support with cleaning, pop over to this week's thread - click here ;)
