I'm a flybaby to!!!!
We've been decorating our house and have nearly finished now so want to make sure i keep it all looking lovely. I have been ignoring it for a while with the excuse that we're decorating, but enough is enough!!!!
I've been following this thread and last night I got DH to bath DD and whizzed round the living room and dining room. I actually cleared my dining table - I forgot I had one!!!!! Even DH said how tidy it looked, I was well chuffed!
So my plan for tonight is to paint the last wall in the dining room and sort my bookcase out. It's not much but it's all about baby steps!

Well I sorted my bookcase out, Yay!! I painted the bricks on the fireplace instead of the wall, but it was another job done!

Morning all!
Well last night I was full of good intentions - but jut ended up cleaning away after dinner and doing the usual dish washer duties, and made sure my sink was still shiney! I knew I had to do something as I had to post it on here this morning - funny how this thought MADE me to something!
So not the putting away session I had planned, but things didn't get any worse.
There will be lots of stuff done this weekend I am sure - we have a skip being delivered today - so we are going to spend most of the weekend filling it with old shed and contents from the garden but as it's a mixed waste shed we can out what ever we like in it - good time to get a bit of de cluttering done me thinks!!!
Well done Mappygirl... :T0 -
I love the fling boogies - just pick a number and fling that many items as quickly as you can, then I try to find the same amount to go to charity shop/give away too.
Doing it as quick as you can means you can't get sentimental.... which reminds me, I still have stuff at my parents to get rid of (moved out two years ago)working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
In the dim and distant there was a thread about a household manual. I'm pretty sure it was Moggins.
It is so unrealistic to expect to go from normal cluttered house to neat tidy house overnight.
This is what I did.
Shined my sink and wiped and swiped my bathroom every day.
I found keeping the kitchen and bathroom clean and tidy made the biggest difference to my house.
The next was to start to put things away after using them. This was more difficult to achieve consistently than the kitchen and bathroom. However, it is done 'more or less' and the result is that things are usually where they should be when I want them again.
Vacuuming I tend to do when it 'needs' doing. I try to keep on top of the dusting - I have a 'dust puppy' that picks up the dust easily.0 -
We used to have a dust puppy, but our Staff decided he didn't want another dog in the house so we ripped it to shreds....
Poor dust puppy!
I'm loving the shiney sink thing - it was very funny watching a half asleep hubby hovering over the sink this morning with a dirty fork... he knew he shouldn't put it in the clean sink... but he wasn't too sure what to do with it either.....
bless him!0 -

I'm still far from organised, but would agree that using a timer is a great motivatator as I can then stop with a clear conscience knowing that something's been done. I discovered Flylady a couple of years ago, and find her insistence on establishing routines little by little works for me.
I wish I could stick to putting things away in their right place when I've finished them...but too many things don't yet have a right place! What's really great is knowing that loads of other people find it difficult to do too, but are so encouraging and helpful sharing their tips on here. Good Luck!Resolution:
