You have to remember though, that several states of the USA are in the hurricane belt. I guess it makes sense for people in e.g. Florida, who get hurricanes quite regularly, to know exactly where things they need are and can grab them quickly if they are evacuated. I know with weather satellites they get a fair bit of notice of the hurricane itself and its path, but I'm not sure at what point the authorities recommend that they leave town.

Funnily enough - my dad lives in Florida...

And they actually leave it quite late to let people know, he's been evacuated to the local high school a few times as it's a pet friendly shelter. They have to take a kit of essentials with them in case they have to stay there for a few days.

Haven't even got started with shining my sink and swishing and swiping - glad I don't have to worry about being evacuated aswell!!!

    :p

    Well.....

Last night wasn't a FLY as I'd have liked - put on at WW instead of losing so wasn't off to the most motivated of starts.

But at 11 just before I went to bed thought I HAVE to do something.....

So spent about 15 mins (didn't set a timer) strightening the book case, it's been bugging me for AGES, stacks od DVD's al fallen over, bookes not put back properly etc.....

Didn't take long and looked really neat once I'd finished, so went to bed glad I'd made the effort to do something... even if my sink wasn't shiney :o

So today... I'll do something else!

    baby steps.....

    Wish me luck!

yes, well done hot.chick! Baby steps is the way to go. :T

I struggle with depression but even on my worst day I always try to do at least one small thing (your tidying the bookcase is a good example) :)
... don't throw the string away. You always need string! :D

    Morning people.....

Well last night I did the usual dishwasher duties, put washing on & swept the floors in the living room and the kitchen and this morning I SHINED MY SINK!!!!!

    Woop woop...

DH looked very confused and asked 'why is my wife bleaching the sink at this time of the morning?'

Then he got told he has to dry it out after he uses it 'it's the LAW!!!'

Bless him - I'm sure my new found madness amuses him!

I think today will be putting away the washing! :j

So my tip is... go to www.flylady.com, and click on the babysteps - and go and shine your sink! It takes an hour to soak the first time you do it so do that, and then use the hour to browse the rest of the site.

Thanks so much for the link to the Flylady site, I feel full of inspiration and am going to clean my sink now!

  • Sounds great, I say something about flylady on another thread and signed up. I had tried it before, without success, but this time I am not sharing with lots of different housemates so I hope to be more successful:) Good luck OP and all fellow starters!
Taking small steps to get myself more organised- both financially and in other areas too:D Big steps coming soon!
