Where takes Cheques?

Do you mean accepted cheques? Why do you need them to accept cheques when they take cards?

Do you mean that you get paid by cheque so you can't pay out? Isn't it risky paying by cheque before money has cleared anyway?

Are you talking about cash flow? In which case all you need is a better budgeting plan; if you make sure you've got a one month cash-spending buffer in your bank, all will be OK. Just start saving MSE style!

Yes I did mean accept - Sorry.

Oh to have a months buffer, if I did I would not need to be on a site like this!!!
We budget as much as we can. We are window cleaners and as people state here, they pay by cheque. It is very inconvenient, but I bet people do to hold on to their money for a bit longer and because they always pay by card, they have no dosh at home.

They stop cheques and all of a sudden it's "so last decade" There was nothing wrong with cheques, just greedy big shops wanting their money right away.
  • My window cleaner only takes cash.... can't imagine why!!!

Is it because he's on the fiddle?
  • I'm with the OP. I much prefer cheques to debit cards.

    Top Tip.
Always fold the cheque along the numbers at the bottom, it will have to be processed manually and take longer to clear.....

People who do this are probably the ones who tear the top of banknotes to see if they are real, sigh..

I used to prefer cheques as it was so much easier to fill in the stubbs and know exactly how much you had in your account each month than with a debit card.Too many bits of paper to lose!
My debit card virtually takes the money several days off my balance before it hits mt account.
I dont think cheques will become obsolete as you can still use them to pay your bills at the post office and kids school prefers them to cash.
But I dont know anywhere that takes them anymore. The few days grace a cheque gave bailed my family out of starvation many a time when I was married. Now I just hoard food!

I hoard food too, you'd think WWIII was about to break out! ]
I send a cheque to my mother in law sometimes, birthdays etc. I sent money once but guess what it was stolen en route, the card got there but not the money.
