Virgin Direct Debit - I have a nasty feeling about this

A month or so ago, I got an email from virgin saying that they were updating their payments recovery processes, and that I would be getting a new Virgin account number and a new Direct Debit reference number. They assured me I wouldn't have to do anything, and that they would arrange the changes with my bank.
Sure enough, a few days ago I saw via on-line banking, my old DD reference disappear from my bank's list, and the next day the new reference replaced it. All well so far.
Now this morning, I have received two almost identical emails from Virgin, advising me that my monthly payment will be taken on or about the 8th of the month. Whilst the emails were identical in content, the subject lines had different reference numbers. Now I'm really concerned that Virgin are about to take two lots of payments from me in August. I've emailed them, but so far no response.
Has anyone else received duplicated emails this month from Virgin?
