I bet you are the type of guy who would walk past a mugging or incident "because its none of my business"
At least this lady has taken an interest in her community and is willing to do something about it, and whos to say some poor old person hasnt died in there?
I suggest a calmer tone to your posts in future or it could be you whos old and with no friends to check their wellbeing!!

What makes you think you know who I am or what makes me tick? Have you got any insights into my integrity which you'd like to share with me?
Try reading the original post again. She started this topic four months ago, therefore, it's already been established that there isn't any elderly person in there at risk. As other people have pointed out, there are a myriad of reasons why properties are empty. You get eccentric people, reclusive people, people who inherit property etc. Really, it is not our business what they do with them. And unless you want to buy the property, in which case by all means go ahead and make them an offer for it if you can find them, then we really have to respect their privacy. "Phoning the Police" isn't that.
I'm sure mel19632 intentions are honourable but there comes a time when you have to respect people's right to do what they want with their lives.0 -
Entertainer - i have no idea why you being so aggressive towards the post and people posting.
The post was started to see what (if anything) people thought I should do towards the empty house.
You know even less about the situation than I do.
I updated the thread to let people know (who were interested) that you could report empty homes online if you wanted to.
I doubt there is an elderly person who has died, but similarly do you want empty homes in your area? They are nothing but a hazard (vandalism, rats etc), but so far (as far as I am aware - I don't go poking my nose through the window) none of these have happened.
I know it is empty as the bushes are so overgrown in front of the house you couldn't get in or out even if you wanted to.Paying down the mortgage:

Is there an anger management thread here somewhere?

Just for the record, this guy has just said this to me:
I bet you are the type of guy who would walk past a mugging or incident "because its none of my business"
Which I regard as a personal insult.
I couldn't really care less about this but when someone says something like that to me it needs to be challenged which is what I did.
You asked for opinions on the subject, you even trailed the likelihood of people disagreeing with you so I gave you my opinion. I'm not being aggressive towards you or anyone else.0 -

Your quite highly strung arent you?!:o
Anyway I stand by my comments, reading the thread back your post comes across as aggressive and dismissive and if its a personal insult then so be it.0 -
The house next to us has been empty for at least a year. The garden was overgrown and people starting randomly dumping (half full) fridges and the odd sofa in the front garden or drive. The council won't collect for free because it's not on public land so in theory you can fly tip on anyones property without any repercussions!
Blooming annoying!! I'd be happy for squatters to move in & stop this happening. Getting very tired of speaking to the morons at the council. The only thing worse than smug married couple; lots of smug married couples.0 -
My advice would be to ring an estate agents, give them a tip off about a possible property to sell. Don't give me a hard time...they would prob get on it quicker than council or police!
I did that about a house opposite me once, and it turned out the guy had gone on holiday, and had been arrested while out there!
You might get a really interesting story, and if you do, you must let us know!0 -
how can an estate agent sell a property that is not on their books or that they have had no contact with the vendor? Doesnt make sense, they cant make a property for sale without permission.0
